Cards in the Making and Some Already Made

Here are some pictures of my Little Girl Smelling Roses from Door County. 16 girls in the process of being bleached and painted with Twinkling H2O's. Just started painting the bottom 3 cards last night, so not quite finished. I used different colored cardstock to see how they would bleach up. Will be interesting to see how they turn out, each card will have it's very own personality when finished.

This card is in the process of being made into a card, right now I just have it laying on a white brick background. Have not decided how to embellish it yet.

Have you got any ideas, leave a comment.In this picture, the card is in it's finished state. I had another card almost like her, but in a different colored dress, she was cut out and mounted on fancy vellum, she sold for $4 right away!!!

♥37 Years of Marriage and My 1st Wedding Ring♥

Yep, that's right, you are reading the title right!!!!! It was our 37th Wedding Anniversary on Friday. This was the first time ever that JP bought me a ring....and a wedding ring at that. As you can see there are 3 rings, the pinkie ring is my mother's which I inherited, the middle fingered ring is a ring I bought at Kohls maybe about 15 years ago and that lovely ring in the middle is my new wedding ring. Can you imagine it was in JP's budget too. The pawn broker said to take it to a Jeweler for an appraisal, you might be surprised at how much it is worth......I shall do that.

FOOT NOTE TO THE READER........Now you might ask, why was JP buying me a wedding ring now, after all these years? When JP and I got married (by the Justice of Peace in Chicago in 1973) I had to buy my own ring, cause he didn't have time to look and/or buy a ring for me cause he was in the midst of racing and just could not take time off. He just did not have time to get married and a marriage licence, he felt, was not that important. It was to me though. He thought we could live together forever, but we had found a house and I said "I will not move into that house unless we are married". So he repented and we got married at 11am August 27th, signed the papers to the house at 3pm and moved into our little house in Arlington Heights, Illinois by the late afternoon.

So here we are in August 27, 2010 and JP is buying me a ring for our 37th wedding anniversary and we are beginning the hunt.

We went to a couple of pawn shops, and a jewelery store. At the first pawn shop, there were at least 5 large cases of rings to choose from, found a couple of rings but they were way out of JP's budget. He had saved $90 and had an extra $10 to top it off. Many of the rings were $200, $300, 4 and 500 all the way up to 1k or more. The salesman showed us the 50% off rings and the 30% off rings.....I would pick a ring and he would take it out, one ring at a time. Finally came up with 3 rings I liked. Then I had it narrowed down to one ring which was $149.00 ~ just a little over JP's budget, oh gosh but did I like it. We ended up not buying it, we left that store to go to another, thinking we would come back.

We were told to go to a jewelery store where they sell estate rings. So we tried there, didn't really see anything I liked, really didn't know what I was looking for, but you know......when you see what you like, you will know that is the one. It will yell out your name and say "I am the one ~ buy me"!!!!!! The saleslady then took us to some "NEW" wedding rings (gosh, I just knew they would be out of JP's budget for sure) Well, wouldn't you know it, I found the perfect ring, it was gorgeous and fit perfectly......but alas..... it's sale price was $2,800.00.....just out of curiosity I asked if there were any discounts and she calculated and came down to a whopping 2K. Gosh I liked that ring alot. We left there, I was alittle bummed, cause I really liked that ring (LOL)

We decided that Saturday we would go looking again, I had to go to the Share program and would stop at "Mr Money" on the way back home. This was a little-er pawn shop....with one case of rings, there the lady showed me the rings one and two at a time.....till finally I said, show me rings for $100, then she started bringing rings out and telling me what she could give them to me for.....then I spied this ring you see at the top of this page......tried it on and said.....this is the one. They were asking $149 but could come down to $110....I said I would bring back my husband.

To make the long story short, we bought the ring.....cause it was calling my name. Plus it just looked like it belonged on my hand.......don't you think???? We ended up paying $120 for the ring and that was including tax, I think we got a good deal, and both JP and I are happy and HE FINALLY BOUGHT ME A RING!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a "glad day" all day going out to eat at Red Lobster then shopping around for a ring, nice date, here is a picture of JP and I. Hope your days are glad too!!! Louise

♥New Cards a'brewing and Computer Follow-up♥

Here is a new card in the making. It is a bleach technique, which is really lots of fun.

1-Ink the stamp with versa-mark and stamp on the colored cardstock you want to use.

2-Embossed with black embossing powder.

3-Filled a cup with bleach and used a soft pointed blending tool and filled in the places I wanted bleached....which was all of the little girl.

4-Let dry, then give her a second coat of bleach and let dry thoroughly before coloring.

5-My first attempt to color her in I used colored pencils.....looked nice and looked almost antiquey.

6-My next attempt was using Twinkling H2O's, I like this technique, hard to see her sparkle, but she is. Now I shall turn her into a card tonight along with the other little girls I made. I probably will sell one of these little girls in my Etsy store. Hopefully I will have her up in the next week or so. Go to http://www.cards4ubylouise.etsy.com/ I probably will sell her for $3.50 as there were alot of steps to making her. AND this is a piece of art....and maybe even one of a kind. If you like this "little girl smelling roses" stamp, I found her in Door County at Oscars Stamping store.

As a follow-up to my computer problems.....it didn't end when I brought the computer home. I ended up taking it back to Office Depot, because it kept shuting off and rebooting at least 10 times. They could not find anything wrong with the computer, so I took it home and hooked it up. Again, the computer ran like a champ for 3 days then acted up by shutting off and rebooting, so I pulled the plugs and started all over again.......this time I found there was a short in the monitor, took the old monitor off and brought up another old monitor from down stairs.......The computer has been working fine for over a week now with no problems. Although the screen is much smaller now, maybe someday I will invest in a larger-flat screen. But until then, this one is fine for now and is working.

It is our Anniversary on Friday, we've been married 37 years.....where has all that time gone? I guess we are truely vapors.....puffs of smoke, here today and gone tomorrow. JP is taking the day off and we might go to Red Lobster for lunch. We should have a little money saved for that special day. Well, time to end this blog for now, watch for another blog in a week or so, once I get a couple of cards put together.

My computer was SOOOOOO Sick!

Well, here is the inside of my computer after I dust sprayed it....had this computer 6 years and never once dusted the inside. The guy that fixed my computer was shocked....I could tell it on his face. I never was told that the inside of computers needed to be dusted...I didn't even know how to get the side of the panel off, let alone dust.

It all started when my DVD player was hiccupping and would not play properly. I thought I would blow into the player and a big wad of a dust bunny flew out....oh my gosh I was shocked.....then I thought to blow the dust spray in there, then clean it with the CD cleaner. I tried everything and still...to no avail. I thought I was going to have to get a new DVD player.

Oh my computer was running sooooooo slow and I was getting more frustrated and just about ready to throw this computer out on the streets! Finally I could take it no more and called up Office Depot, took it in and found out it needed more ram....only $39.99....cleaning and tune-up was 69.99.....labor was $30.00 plus tax........guess that is cheaper then having to buy a new computer though.

Joel said that I needed to spray dust the inside and run the Norton virus scan. This computer is running like a champ now and oh what joy, feel like I have a NEW computer. Joel says that every time I get an oil change in the car to also spray dust the inside of the computer too. It should be done 3-4 times a year.........I sure don't want my computer to look like it did, just never realized it had to be clean on the inside as well as on the outside to work well.

It's sort of like our spirits.....we can look clean and good on the outside but if we are dirty on the inside we have defeated everything that God is trying to do in our lives. Suddenly our talk does not match our walk........believe me this past week was a real trial for me....people will say God is testing us, well, I flunked the test again. It's like I have to start from ground zero again, two steps forward and five steps back, never quit making it to first base.

Oh well, God still loves me even when no one else does and especially when I am in a hate mode and just want to give up. Thank God for his mercy and grace, without that we would be lost.

Well, I think I shall end this blog for today. I know now it will be easier to blog because my computer is working much better. Yall have a great day in the Lord.

♥My First "little" Harvest♥

Well, here you have it my first little harvest of the season.....oh my, how delicious the beans, tomatoes, pepper and celentro were steamed altogether!!!! The pepper plant and bean plant were from Walmart. Tomatoes came from the hardware store and the calentro was from seeds I planted in my upside down planter. Got a little cucumber the other day. Looking forward to some zucchinni in the next couple of weeks...oh my we will have alot of zucchinni if all the plants produce. I planted 12 seeds and there are 8 plants growing....may be sharing alot of zuc's this year. Last year I had maybe 3 plants and only got 5-6 zucchinnis.....was a bad year for vegies from the garden.

We had a big storm the other day.....3 storms passed by, the last storm brought flooding in the back yard and 1 inch of water in the basement....plus our roof leaks very bad....so we had a flood in the kitchen also cause the bucket wasen't place in the right spot to catch the drip, drip, drip of the drops leaking through the roof into the ceiling. May be a long time before we can get that fixed....we need a ship to come through for us.

"Showers of Blessings" in this case "Flowers of Blessings"

To your left are "Miranda's or Bee Balm". When you rub the leaves together they have a spicy smell to them. I have seen them all over town and wondered what they were............finally a neighbor lady on Onida Street was out in her beautiful garden digging up some flowers. I decided to stop, not knowing who she was, but always admired her garden and ask her what the name was of these beautiful flowers. "Miranda's" she said. Would you like some? Yes, I said. So she dug up some for me along with some pretty little white flowers and also some plants that look like geraniums and will have purple flowers. All these plants are perennials and will spread. Hopefully, they will spread and suffocate the WEEDS!!!!! Here is a close up of this lovely Miranda flower.

Well, we got all the plants planted in their new homes. The one thing Chris said was that all the plants be planted, because she has given plants to other people and they never got planted.......I said, oh yessssss these plants will have a home at my place.

Today, Sunday, we went to True Value for some more plants and got 3 more perennial plants, a "small lily, shasta daisies and little purple flowers" I also splurged on herbs, greek oregano, caraway and German Chamomile. I also got some mosquito spray, because I am finding I am very allergic to bug bites. Saturday the mosquitos just about ate me up alive. Today, I sprayed with Cutters Skinsation mosquito spray and got only one bite............miracles upon miracles!!!!!!

JP and I had a great day, doing the backyard. Pulled weeds and dug up an area for more flowers and laid some mulch down. I still want to finish off the middle section with a different colored mulch, this will be our camp fire section where our "smoky joe" is standing. It should be a nice area after it is finished.....I have so many ideas whirring around in my head, but not alot of money to accomplish those ideas. Oh well, so what else is new. Try to use what we have and hopefully the money will be there when everything is on sale!

"Garfield's Scale" makes it to a Treasury on Etsy

See Garfield's Scale in the upper right hand corner? How exciting to see one of my cards make it to a treasury! The lady who put the treasury together said when she saw Garfield, it cracked her up....yep, Garfield can do that. I have not yet looked to see how the treasury looks on the blog, hopefully it will be easy to see.........well, I am sure you will get the idea.

From this treasury, I got the idea for my "Flower Power" cards in the previous post....putting together a set of cards to write a little note on. Through looking at some of the artists cards, I saw a card with one big flower and a little sign saying "just a note", now that was a good idea I thought, and I went about making a set of cards. The green card to your right is one of those cards.

Going to close this blog for tonight, have to get dinner ready for the husband. He will be home in about 2 hours and I still need to watch "Hell's Kitchen" which I recorded before I left tonight to go make cards. So talk later and have a good day.

Here's my newest set of cards............aren't they cute? They are blank inside so you can write a note of greeting to you're friend or lover.

Got the flowers at Archivers and was actually going to use them for another project, but they landed on these cards. The flowers colorfully coordinate with the different colors of cardstock. I had the circular salutations in my backstock of embellishments, so thought they would look neat on the cards. Mr. Cuttlebug came to my rescue again with a lovely background and Wa La a lovely card! As you can see, each card says something different, Hi, Smile, Love and Happy Birthday.

Some Plantings Today

No pictures today, as I just got some new plants to plant today. A lovely purple impatient for the front porch. Two more tomatoe plants, a strawberry plant, shasta daisies, Zenias and a lemon Verdana herb that makes tea. Got them all planted just before it started to rain a gentle rain, so they won't get drowned. Only bad thing about the rain is that our roof leaks.

Can you believe we had the roof reroofed in 2002 which at that time, had never leaked. But now it does...........thanks to a man that called himself a "Christian" who was trying to cut corners.....no, he was not a Christian. Bible says "to trust NO MAN" and that is so true. Anyways now we deal with a leaky ceiling which gets worse with each rain. Why don't you fix it, you say? Costs money which we do not have at this time...............so the roof continues to leak into the kitchen...........sue him? He is no longer in business, sold all his stuff and who has the money to sue now adays? So we deal with it with pots and pans.......until our ship comes in.

♥Etsy Tap Dance♥

Okay....I am doing the Etsy Tap Dance!!! Sold 2 cards tonight.....gosh that makes me day!!! Another Father's Day Card and Garfield's Scale........yay for Garfield!!!! So, tomorrow and Monday I will put up another Deer for Father's Day and another Garfield card. Was having fun making Garfield, so I made quite a few cards of him.

Thought I would add a few pictures of my two dogs. To your left, the white dog looking out the car window is Hyko, he is a Bolignese from Italy (a real lover), we got him at the animal shelter April of 2003, he was already 4 years old at the time, well, he is getting kinda old now, but he still acts like a puppy. He's got alot of things wrong with him but he just keeps going. I think Kylie keeps him going. Kylie is the grey dog to the right. We got her in 2005? Is that possible? My how time flies. She is a rescue dog also, she was found running homeless in Osh Kosh and taken to the shelter. She sure has turned out to be a good dog, and she likes her picture taken alot. Kylie is a Schnoodle and doesn't shed. Hyko and Kylie have been very good friends to JP and I, when people fail ya.....our dogs are right there beside us, sort of like God, he'll never forsake or leave us alone. Dogs are like that too. I think dogs are God's special angles to watch over us humans.....don't you think so?

Hope you all are enjoying your Memorial Day Week-end. I plan to do some gardening and planting of tomato plants and cucumber plants.......also throw some seeds down for flowers and plant my marigolds. Busy, busy, but fun. Oh and there are those darned weeds that have to be pulled too....a never ending battle, if Adam and Eve had not sinned, would we have been weedless?????

I had the flu this past week and it shut down every inch of my body, all I wanted to do was sleep and then sleep some more. But what ever the name of the flu was. it worked its way out. But now JP has it....we like to share things so I thought sharing the flu would be a nice thing to do. Made a big pot of chicken soup with garlic. Have some rhubarb cut up to make rhubarb custard tomorrow. If JP eats the rhubarb dessert I will know he is feeling better.

Father's Day Card

Just added another Father's Day Card to my Etsy store last night. Thought I would add it to my blog. Sold a card like this on the 20th, mailing it out on the 22nd. Gosh, that just makes my day when a card is sold. Well, I thought I should get another card up on Etsy just like it, or close to like it.

Very fun to make using Dreamweaver paste, smear it over a gold stencil, then let it dry. The next day I used my mark-it pens to color in. Trying to come as close to looking like deer colors as possible. Well, it turned out pretty good. The inside of the card is stamped "Happy Father's Day" The price of this card is $4.oo plus postage ($5.50) but you will receive one bonus card and bookmark or thank you card for your use. Hope you all had, and are having a great day. JP (my husband) was treated to dinner today (Sunday) by a friend and tomorrow (Monday) I will be taking JP out for a dinner......hope I can find one of those places that gives a free dinner for Birthdays.......JP has the day off, so I shall check around to see who is giving a free dinner for the Birthday Boy. We just might get a really good hamberger at Windy City's....who knows. Dessert will be strawberry cheese cake, which is a complete surprise at this point. An $8.99 cheese cake on sale for $3.99....I got a deal!!!! Hopefully it taste good.

The above cards are my new ones which I made this week-end. I bought a new Nestabilities die- cut to use with my cuttlebug.....been wanting this die for over a year and finally invested. I really think this is a card that can be used for most anything, birthday's, anniversary's, thank you's and you guessed it..........Valentines!!!!

The City Plants a Tree and I planted basil and onions

Well, we got a gift today. The City of Appleton Parks and Recreation Department planted a little Linden Tree in our front yard. So sweet...only thing we have to do is water it every couple of days. They mulch, prune, stake, fertilize and replace if it doesn't take. OUR cost........water the baby, 2-3 gallons of water every other day.....pray for rain. See that blue line on the sidewalk, far left......that is our water line....oh my, wonder how big the roots will get? I looked up to see what a Linden tree is......from the basswood family, will get to be 50'-60' tall and 40' wide. Will have little flowers in the spring and heart shaped leaves.............good for lots of raking. Oh, and it is fast growing too. Cheers, have a great day.

Well, I did some planting of my own today, basil and onions........that is a start. Will take a picture when the seedlings begin to grow. I have them in the old barbeque and covered with chicken wire to keep the squrrel out of it. He is a pest sometimes. JP bought me 4 tomato plants Mother's Day. Two Romas and 2 cherry tomato plants. So begins the planting, hopefully the weather will cooperate, been kind of cold lately and we have taken in the plants. Here you see my Geranium plant that JP got me for Secretary's Day....that was a pleasent surprise. I have decided to do Geranium plants for the front and back of the house.........they are hardy and bloom all summer long. I saw some Martha Washington geraniums, dark maroon. I shall have to pick one of those up Wednesday on my way home from Kaukuana. Never saw such a pretty plant before. Well, little by little I shall get things done..............so much to do, so little time. I shall close for now, it is almost 3:00am.........really time for bed.

Went to the Annual African Violet Society Sale in Osh Kosh Saturday

Saturday JP and I went on a date to the Annual African Violet Society Sale in Osh Kosh........oh my, such beautiful flowers. And where, might you ask are African Violets from.....Africa of course. Violets were found in eastern Africa near the equator in what is now Tanzania. A number of additional species have been found in Tanzania and Kenya, but all were within this fairly small region in Africa that includes several mountain ranges.

In the late 1800's specimens of African violets were found growing in the wild by several individuals. The first person to recognize the value of them was Baron Walter von Saint Paul-Illaire who brought flowers and seeds to Germany for further study. By 1926 a commercial operation in the West Los Angeles area, obtained seed. Armacost and Rouston chose ten of the best new hybrids and introduced them to the American public in the 1930's. Interest soared, and by 1946 (just 54 years after the first violet (Saintpaulia) was discovered) there were enough avid growers and colletors that the African Violet Society of America was founded.

We bought two little plants, Kohleria "Ampallang' Violet toned - red-pink flower with dark green, mottled leaves. Dick, who sold us this one, said it was not a violet but will get many blooms and they will look like little horns. Our second little plant is a miniture "Ballet Blueberry Swirl" double blue and white flowers. We got a cute little pot to keep it in. Maybe in a couple of blogs from now, I will take a picture of it.
The blue violet is called "Ness's Blueberry Puff"

The pink flowered violet is "Pink Rose Coral - Optimara Calif. II

The violet with large verigated leaves and maroon flowers is called "Powwow"

The pink with fuscia edges is called "Kev's Heavenly Star"

On our way home we stopped at a truck stop....JP's passion in life, giving tracts, tapes, CD's and bibles out to truckers. We then stopped off at Sandi and Doug's home for a short visit. They live on an island with lots of water around them........gosh, everytime I go there it feels like vacation to me.....I may become addicted to going there alot. Should be a wonderful summer if that is the fact....lol.

All in all we had a wonderful day, something we should do at least once a month.......JP and I have been workaholics most of our lives always doing something, running here and running there....maybe it is time to slow down a bit, at least for the summer.

♥Jesus Loves You♥

I ran across this picture last week cleaning my husbands room. We ran a bus ministry for about 4 years and these were some of the kids we would pick up for Sunday School and Church.

1983 was the year we started....my goodness 27 years ago....these kids must be in their early 30's to 40's now. My how time flies, we truely are just a puff of smoke aren't we. I will have to send this picture to the pastors at that time.....wonder where all these kids are now and if they are following after God. I remember a few names, there's Billi jo, Brock, Johnny, Stevie.......once knew all their names......my how time fades the mind.

Today I figured out how to scan a picture and put it in a folder. A major step for me and I also sent a fax today......my goodness this old dog can still learn new tricks. (give me a doggie bone)My next major experiment will be to put all my pictures on a flash drive. Hopefully removing all the pictures will give me more memory on the hard drive.

Made this Seagull card, it is called "Seagull on Watch" which turned out really nice. Using Mark-it and Copic pens and my new large scalloped punch which gives the effect of a curtain, mmmm wonder what other uses it could have. I am going to try to upload a picture of my husband (if I can find it)....mmmmmm....year unknown, standing along side his 1924 model T Ford dump truck...........that sure was a fun truck to have, I think we gave it away though, if we'd have kept it and had it restored it would have been worth thousands, who knows, we would be just guessing at it's worth.

We had quite a few tractors also, that we actually used on our 20 acres.....not like this one ....>

♥1971 Barn Painting♥

Here is a painting I did in 1971. It is actually unfinished though.....never finished the forefront, meant to, but in my young years (25yrs old) I must have gotten side-tracted or something. Oh I know.....met my husband and got into racing in more ways then one. Painting was one of those things I never got back to. Still have my acrylic paints down stairs and check them every now and then. Really should try my hand at painting again. I have 3 other paintings in the house, another farm, a sea scape and a little girl. (She was my first try at painting.) Will have to take pictures of those paintings also.

Farms were always intriqueing to me for some reason. Wasen't till 1976 we actually moved to the country on 20 acres with cows, chickens, ducks, rabbits, dogs and cats, a big garden and lots of hay and corn and oats for the animals.................we really enjoyed that living, alot of work and alot of tears, but also alot of good times and memories. Oh that we could have back "the way we were" maybe change a few things so as not to end up where we are. Would it have made a difference, I wonder. Well time to shut down for the night.

Well, as you can see I am on Facebook. It has been really amazing to me to find so many people that I know and have known. I shall have to look for a few more people, never know who I may run across. Still learning the ropes on facebook. Tonight I just figured out how to make the badge/button. NOW if I could figure out how to make badge/buttons from other blogs and bring them to my blog and visa versa. Got Etsy onto my Facebook page, now if I could just figure out how to get Etsy on my blog. As you can see I have much to occupy my time.

Don't you just love this barn???? My friend Kandie in Indiana took the picture of this barn, I love old barns and I believe this barn was found in Wisconsin someplace. You can go to http://www.khixkrafts.blogspot.com/ and find her other lovely pictures and many ideas for cards and other treasures.

Some day I will have to take a picture of the barn I painted back in 1971..........a real painting in acrylics.............I wanted to be an artist........well, I wanted to be alot of things, but somethings just did not pan out......like gold I guess, am still panning away. Anyways shall have to figure out what I shall do with this barn, once I print it out. Any suggestions?

Easter Sunday Card Making

Well, we had a great time making cards for Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa and the Pastor.

I had much to much to choose from, but the kids had a great time using everything I presented before them. You would have thought it was Christmas the way their eyes lit up with all the stickers, pens, paper, stamps and ink. They followed directions very well and made the front of the card the way I showed them. Then I said do the inside anyway you would like..........WOW did they have a ball decorating the inside with stickers and butterflies, stamps and christian sayings and scriptures and crosses.

Following is another picture of the fun. We decided that we will do this again for Mother's Day. So will be fun to come up with something for that special day also. Lord Willing.

I read a little poem to them about the jelly beans and what each color meant. And we talked about what the cross of Jesus Christ meant to them. We talked about the New Jerusalem and what it might be like. It was a fun morning for us, hopefully it will be remembered. I still remember things I did in Sunday School and that was years ago. Easter Cards of Kids.

Here is a picture of the two cards I will be teaching the Sunday School kids at church to make. Hopefully they are simple enough for them to do. I am sure the kids will have their own ideas on what they want to do........that's okay, we are all individuals with different ideas on how to do things. I will have to take my camera along and take a few pictures. Will be fun to see what they come up with.

I have most of the cards folded, the clouds are made and I just bought some construction paper tonight, cheaper then cardstock, will be using the construction paper for the ground, (green, gold and brown). They will be able to put the cross, sun, flowers and stamp the words Hope, Faith, Rejoice and Happy Easter where ever they want.
