My Birthday Today November 21st!!!!!!

Happy Birthday to me today!!! I made it to 77 years old!!! God's perfect number, I hope it will be a perfect year!!!! I added a few birthday cards to this post, a new one and a few old ones.

Today I will be going to the Thompson Center to make some cards, maybe work on Christmas cards, that is coming round the corner pretty fast.

Yesterday I went shopping for my Birthday and Thanksgiving dinner. Buying a small turkey breast and a steak for the BIG birthday!!! Hope there is a $5.00 bouquet of flowers to buy also!!!!!
Looks like there will be rain and snow on my birthday....no surprise....it ALWAYS snows on or before my birthday, good tracking weather for the deer hunters.
OH!! just got a call from a friend, she is taking me out for Chinese food Wednesday for my Birthday oh yummy!!! What a surprise!!
So, this is going to be my Birthday dinner, gosh this looks delish. The date says Dec. 25th, 2017, it was our Christmas Dinner 6 years ago!!! Not too sure my dinner will look like this. I will have to take a picture of what my dinner will really look like.
Will have to find a bouquet of flowers or at least something to cheer up things around here. I bought a new little white Christmas tree for $18 and will put red decorations on it for a simple change. My old green one will go outside, it's over 20 yrs old. This may be my last Christmas here as I may sell the house in 2024. Not sure when though.

Well, going to close this blog for today. If you are celebrating a Birthday, I would like to wish you a Happy Birthday and a Happy Thanksgiving!!! Keep looking up better days are coming!!!

Cheers ~ Louise

Some More Cards from the Revealing Party - Part 2

Hi there everyone. Well, it's almost the end of the week and guess what......Saturday is a coming!!! Yep, we like the weekends....a break from the busy week. Nothing much has gone on this week although I did have a run-in with the Telephone/Internet Co. today.

(Note: I wrote this on 11/9, so this is OLD news) They sent me this months new bill and apparently they did not receive my payment for October. I paid it at the Citgo Service Station. Where did that money go to???? Well, I talked to some lady in India and got no where. Plus she put me on hold so many times and I heard Indian music, at least I thought it was Indian music.....then my phone battery started to beep and I hung up.

Then I tried the "Chat" with the Telephone Co. over the Internet and seemed to have gotten no where. Then he had me talk to another man from India....gosh those people are hard to understand.

FINALLY I got a nice lady (that I could understand) apparently I was talking to someone in Payment claims. So I had to send the receipt from the gas station showing I paid the bill in October....I scanned it, made a cover page, then emailed the receipt to the Telephone Co. My Telephone bill went from $165.57 down to $87.40. Thank God.....I was so stressed out. I told the lady this is not how I expected to spend my Thursday afternoon. But at least the problem is remedied. I will NOT go back to that station again to pay ANY bills....no not in a million years!!!
A continuation of the card exchange from Oct. 29th. I am just a little bit behind.....life gets so busy that blogging gets put on the back burner sometimes. So anyways the above picture of the cards, I sent the "watermelon slices" and made the card on the right and Janine made the card on the left. I rather like her card.....so funny!
God Bless America.....she sent the "stars and strips. My card on the right, Janine's on the left.
Janine sent the "scarecrow and corn stalk" My card is on the right, hers on the left.
Janine sent the "Fall Background" her card is on the left, mine is on the right.
I sent the leaves and it looks like we both used the Fall background. Janine's card is on the left and mine is on the right.
Last but not least, Janine sent the "Lip stick, mirror and perfume images" My card is on the right and her creative card is on the left.

Well that is it for the Revealing Party Cards. We just started the 4th session and I got my new name. I have to send my images out for November. I stamped 14 turkeys, will mail her 12 and keep 2 and make cards out of them. I have done that already....maybe I will take a picture of it and use it for my Thanksgiving header in a few days.

So tomorrow is my day to visit Betty's and make some more cards. Can hardly wait to see what she has come up with.

I had a dentist appointment today to have my teeth cleaned. I still have a couple of cavities....the dentist is watching them, that they don't get bigger. We have to take care of JP's mouth, he has 6 cavities that need tending too. The dentist said he would give us  50% on the cost of the cavity filling....which would be $735....or the other option would be to go to the Tech and have them taken care of for FREE with the Dentist overseeing the procedure. JP is still thinking about what he wants to do. I sure do hope he goes the "Free" way!!!!

Well, time to close and get this posted. You all have a good evening and a great Wednesday. Keep looking up....better days are coming.
Cheers ~ Louise

Daylight Savings, Elections and Some Cards

Hi there everyone.....how you doing on this mighty fine day......2nd day of daylight savings....what for, I do not know. I had a hilarious day yesterday. FORGOT to set the clocks back Saturday before going to bed. (too many clocks for one thing-at least 12 in the house alone). JP's fascination is clocks.

So, anyways, JP woke me up Sunday morning at 8am to see if I was going to church.....yeah I guess so. Finally got up, did the ritual of getting up, bathroom, hair, teeth, wash hands, then I decided to do my blood, (usually don't do it on Sundays, take a day off). Sat down at the computer and turned it on, started to do my blood and noticed the clock on the computer said 7:30am (what, am I dreaming????) Then I looked at the Atomic clock and it said 7:30......oh my, my watch said 8:30.....OH-OH I forgot to set the clocks!!!! I went outside to tell JP, "It's only 7:30 not 8:30, I forgot to set the clocks back!
Oh how funny, it sure is crazy getting older and forgetful. How do you like my funny pictures....I love ducks and could not resist the funny duck above. I used to have 4 ducks when we lived up in Ladysmith....I sure did love those birds, they were so much fun to take care of till they started getting killed off by some wild animal. We later found out it was one of my dogs.....gosh I was upset!!!!
JP brought home 4 little pumpkins for me to cook up and make pumpkin pies, have one cooked up and ready to make something with it.......when I saw this picture, I just had to copy and paste......funny picture. Wish making pies was this easy (I think)

So tomorrow is Election day......I sure do hope the right person gets in. The right person is on the right......get it????? I don't think I can stand another 4 years like these past 8 years have been....all our liberties will definitely be taken away.

In these next few pictures of cards are ones I have found on the Internet, and would like to make these cards. I have made this card already, but not using the trees in the background....shall have to try this one for sure.
I like this snowflake card and actually have the stamp.....such a simple card and very clean looking.
I thought this was a lovely card using the butterflies....looks like patterned paper and folding it over and adding a butterfly and some verse.
I just bought this die cut....and have cut out a few leaves....just have to find the embossing folder, patterned paper  and ribbon to make this card. Pretty, pretty for fall.

Think I will cut this post short, need to get a few cards up in my Etsy store....more Christmas cards to sell....hopefully they will....

Have a great day and keep looking up, better days are coming.
Cheers ~ Louise

A Card Making Kind of Day

Hi there everyone. How is life going with you???  Yesterday was a card making kind of day. We usually meet once a month, but for the next couple of months, we won't be meeting, because the rode outside Betty's home is getting widened and repaved....so I guess it will be a mess for a while. So September will be our next card making day. Here, you see the following cards we made.
I took these pictures outside on the front porch. So there was a little more light to play with. Betty has lots of die cuts...so the fancy oval and flowers are a die cut, we colored the flowers and leaves in with Copic markers.
In this picture, the coloring in, was the light house. The frilly vine is a die cut. Then we layered the papers and ribbon and embellished with the bow and gems.
In this picture, the background is patterned paper, the flower was stamped on a iridescent paper and then embossed. We cut out the flower and colored in some of the pedals with pink copic markers. Very simple but elegant.
This was the first card we made and the duck is colored in with copic markers. Again, some of the lovely oval die cuts that Betty has.

I have not been able to get down to the basement in the last couple of days to make cards. The heavy rains caused a little flooding in our basement and backyard. The dehumidifier had been running for 3 days and there's still lots of moisture in the basement. Hope all my papers don't get wrecked.

I still have the chore of putting everything back together after the Rebuilding Together people replaced the basement windows. Everything had to be moved from in front of the windows, so needless to say I have plastic containers full of stuff on the floors and not on the skids, like they are supposed to be. I may have a mess down there that I don't realize I have yet. There might be a few cardboard boxes on the floor....oh well, maybe this weekend.

Well time to close here, hope you have a wonderful couple of days. JP and I are planning on going and getting a few ideas on a "garden walk" on Saturday, hopefully the weather will be nice with no rain.
Cheers ~ Louise

Making Christmas Cards

Hi there everyone. How is the Christmas season treating you?? I am not sure as yet. It seems JP and I are seeing the Doctors way too much within the last couple of weeks. By the end of this month JP will have had 3 appointments and I with 3 appointments. Yuk!! Mine was a follow-up and change of meds, blood test and urine test and end of this month the eyes need to be checked by a specialist. JP's appointments revolve around the urologist and today they put him in a tube (he said). Is that an MRI??? Geez, I don't know. Well, in the midst of all this....I must find time to make cards (it's my therapy.)
So in this picture is a fun card. It is called "Iris Fold" strips of paper arranged to make a square. The background went through the cuttlebug and was embossed with snowflakes. Very hard to see the embossing. I think next time I will ink the snowflakes so they show up better.
Here is another picture of my snowman using the Stampin'up "Work of Art" stamps. I really like this set of stamps. And this cute snowman got stamped and made into 16 more cards last night. I think I will use this card for Happy New Year cards and possibly make some more, turning them into "thinking of you" cards for Hospice. With this same stamp set, I can make the American Flag, a butterfly and 2 different sale boats. That will be for another blog, when I get them done.
This is another "Iris Fold" card. The card stock was already cut out to form an ornament. I followed a pattern using strips of paper to make the ornament. Then glued the card stock on a card and layered washi tape on top.
Both the tree above and the second ornament below are done the same ways as the ornament. You can see that both ornaments are done just a little bit different.
Here is another tree in different washi tape colors and the iris fold is in different colors. I sent these cards to the in-laws and nieces. So I hope they like them. I should be getting these cards in the mail tomorrow. Then I just have to decorate a bit more and make some cookies and make my step-father's package and send it off to LasVegas.
Well time to close and go walk Kylie around the block. It's suppose to warm up the rest of this week, so the sidewalks should be clear.

Tomorrow is card making at a friends house....yeah, I always look forward to that and getting new ideas. Next Sunday is another Stampin'up Camp and some more ideas. It's no wonder these days fly by...I seem to plan so much and look forward to each and every event....then it comes and goes so quickly!!! POOF!!!!

Talk to you later and keep looking up!!! Cheers ~ Louise

Making Cards at a Friends House

Hi there everyone. Wow...this week sure went by fast. It's been almost a week since my last post, my, my! Either there's not much happening or there's just too much to report!!! I thought the roof was going to be worked on this week....but that did not happen, maybe next week????? Hopefully the weather will be beautiful next week, as I don't feel like dealing with a dripping ceiling.

Kylie got attacked by another dog the other day while we were walking around the block. Gosh that is so scary, the dog is the same size as Kylie. I could not get a hold of Kylie to pick her up. They went around and around, growling, snapping and biting, not sure who won, Kylie is okay, not sure about the other dog. I was more in shock then Kylie, but she held her own. I have not seen the other dog since the attack, so they must be keeping the dog someplace else now. The other dog sneaked out the front door and was not on a leash...Kylie was on a leash. I am so much careful when I pass by the house. This is Kylie's 4th dog attack, (2 on our block, 1 on Commercial and 1 on Hancock) not sure what she is doing to a attract these dogs to attack....but I wish it would STOP!!!!!

Thursday was card making day at Betty's. I always look forward to this outing and getting a few new ideas for making cards. A little bit of inspiration goes a long way. The above and below pictures are of the 1st card we made. Betty stamped and embossed the Lilly of the Valley stamp and we colored in the flower with copic markers, trying to blend in the colors the same way Betty did.
Here you see the card I made and the card Betty made.....can you tell which one is which????? That's my card on the right. Pretty close huh?!?!!?!
This was a really neat card....It's a die cut of flying geese or ducks. We colored in the grass, ducks and sun, blending in the colors with  copic markers. I think it turned out really nice. Looks almost like Tiffany glass.
In these two pictures is a "Hershey's" candy bar holder. He is a cute little pilgrim....I think he turned out great. Can hardly wait to get at that candy bar!!!
Now this is a lovely Christmas card, again, using the copic markers and blending in the colors. Wish I had that stamp....makes for a really nice Christmas card.
Next month will be some more card making, so I will probably post those too. I may be going to a Stampin' up work shop in November, so there I go, two classes, for sure I will learn some new stuff!!!

Well time to close, it is getting late and I need to go downstairs and ride my bike for a couple of miles and I need to think about what I will make for JP for dinner tonight. Thinking I will make some "Chinese potstickers" tomorrow. Possibly after raking some leaves as they are starting to fall in abundance!!!! Plenty to do, not a dull moment around here.

You all have a great weekend and keep looking up.
Cheers ~ Louise

Some New Cards...for Hospice and Etsy

Hi there everyone. Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful day. Hopefully it is beautiful where you are. Some were dealing with rain, hail, wind and all sorts of bad weather. We need to count our blessings when the weather is beautiful. Never know what is around the corner for someone else.
Well today I thought I would post some cards I have been working on the last couple of days. Made quite a few of them as I will be adding them to my Etsy store and for the Hospice meeting this Friday. In the top picture, a very easy and fun card to make. Washi tape was used to make a candle, different colors and designs. Happy Birthday stamped on the bottom and speckles were used for the flame. The candles had to dry over night, then I taped them to card stock. I made a set of 4 cards for $10.00 + postage. I need to make more of these cards, they are always good to have on hand.
This lovely card was made with my new Rubber Necker Stamps. I have always admired this set of stamps and finally got the set a few weeks ago. There are 5 different stamps that make up this design. First the flowers, which can be stamped and sprayed with water, the leaves, the dots, then the stems. Finally the verse. These cards have a watercolor effect, I just love the way it turned out. I am sure this could be just about any card you would want it to be. Name it and claim it!!!
This cute card is just a lamp, stamped and then run through the cuttlebug. The lamp shade is stamped and embossed in gold and popped up. I found this lamp along with a few other lamps at a sale.
In these two pictures are the Rubber Necker stamps again. As you can see I am having a great time using these stamps. Fun to try the flowers in different colors to see what they look like. I like the verses that come with this set, 3 different sayings. They are as follows: (note: just 2 verses here, sorry)
The gentle Wind drifts to each flower at play
Bringing a sweetness of life to brighten your day.

As I wandered the forest, the green leaves among.
I heard a Wild Flower singing a song.

Well, those are just two verses, guess I did not take a picture of the 3rd card with the 3rd verse.

Time to close and take Kylie for a walk....will be going downstairs tonight and put inserts into the cards for Hospice, so I am already for Friday. Have a great night and keep looking up. Cheers ~ Louise

Life is Peachy Keen!!!!

Hi everyone, how is your day going? Well my "gift give away" in celebration of going on 7 years blogging is over....it sure was fun! I've heard from the 3rd place winner, still waiting to hear from the 1st and 2nd place winners. There still is time.

Today I thought I would post some cards I made and are already listed in my Etsy store. The set of cards below are repurposed cards, they go pretty fast and are fun to do. Selling them on Etsy for $8.00+postage.
This is my vintage lady card, the back ground is some sheet music from an old gospel hymnal, the song is "Have I not chosen you?" I think I will use these as Mother's Day cards, maybe mom will start singing when she get's this card. I might make a few Hospice cards using this card also. I am selling this card on Etsy for $3.50+postage.
This was a fun little card to make....the faces are from http://peachykeenstamps.com and I found some small circle punches to fit the faces, the background is a embossing folder that I ran through my cuttlebug. The "happy birthday" was trimmed off from a store bought card. I am selling this card for $3.00+postage.
Well, time to close this blog for today....can't believe a whole month is just about over. Onward and forward to the "lusty month of MAY" hopefully all the rain of April will bring you lovely flowers in May!!!! Oh and my husband will be 67 years old in May.....he caught up to me, now we will be 67 together for 6 months, then I turn 68 in November.....my goodness time flies!!!! JP is going to get a "Cake Boss" cake, I can hardly wait for a bite of that cake!!!!! YUMMMY!!!!

Have a great day and keep looking up!! Cheers ~ Louise

In 13 Hours......the drawing!!

Hi Everyone......It's 2:03am....and there still is time to leave a comment or follow my blog. The drawing will be TODAY at 3pm or when JP gets home from practice. (He'll be picking the 3 names). If you go to the previous post you can see the gift for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

I am celebrating going on 7 years of blogging. Where did that time go...blogging can be great therapy and a way to journal your life. I have heard that you can actually have your blog posts put into an actual book. If and when all your posts disappear from blogland, you can still have your blogging in book form. Not sure how much that costs, but it sounds like a good idea.
So add your name to this lovely plastic bowl and receive 5 homemade cards, anti-bacterial hand lotion soap, a photo album, a pen, coffee or tea (your choice), and a special surprise!!

See you all later today. I will let you all know who won. Email me with your address and what your preference is for coffee or tea and I will get your gift off in the mail this week.
Cheers ~ Louise

Starting My 7th Year....Gift Give Away!!!

Hi everyone. Hope your day went well. Mine was pretty busy...lol...shopping takes a lot of time. I hit a new store in town. GFS Marketplace. It's a bulk-type store for food services, restaurant and party supplies. A small building with a lot of stuff and a lot of people, ailes were not wide, so you were bumping into people with the cart and waiting for them to come around the corner...BUT there were free hamburgers and coffee...such a deal I could not pass up. Tomorrow they will be sampling the different foods in the store.......I should try and get there for that...hahahahaha. I did pick up their hamburgers, a large bag of salad, vegetable stock, naan flat bread. I might go back there to shop, hopefully when it is not so busy. It is sort of like Sam's Club but on a smaller scale.

Tomorrow, actually today starts my 7th year of blogging....I can't believe it has been that long already....I must have been having fun cause the time sure went fast!!!

I have been keeping track of how many times you have come to my blog to either comment or follow me and have put your name in the bowl.
As you can see, the bowl is not full. You still have time to enter for the gift above. The drawing will be on Saturday at 3pm and my husband will do picking of names. You all have 3 chances to win as there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The gift includes:

5 cards - a Birthday card, Note card, Garfield card, Anniversary card and Get Well card. - To send to that special friend.
1 pen - Who doesn't need another pen???
1 small photo album (to carry your kids and grand kids around in)
1 bag of Door County coffee or 3 bags of Bigelow tea
(your choice)  - To take some time to unwind
1 bottle of anti-bacterial hand lotion - Clean hands....clean heart!!
I might add a "special mystery gift" to make things exciting, of course it will be something I made.

It's not a lot, but it's fun things that we can always use. So you still have some time to enter the fun.....fill my bowl up!!!!

So hurry, hurry and comment please, help me to celebrate these 7 years !!! Have a great day, keep warm and dry!! Cheers ~ Louise

GOOD NEWS...Etsy Tap Dance in Progress!!!

Hi everyone....WOW, wow, wow! Sold some cards today....I am always amazed when something sells in my little shop. I don't know why, but I am. I was invited to join an Etsy team. The only stipulation is that you must live in America. "TeamVintageUSA" has been a blessing for me. Because since I have been a part of this team I've had 3 sales......that sure makes my day. I am not sure why they asked, maybe because of my "Vintage Lady" cards, but whatever the reason, I am glad they did ask me.
This was the 1st set of 4 Easter cards I listed the 2nd of this month. I shall have to get another set of Easter cards up in my store in the next day or so.
I really liked this card...What a friend we have in Jesus....this card sure has been a big favorite on Etsy....it's been favored by over 50 people, that's the most I have ever seen for anyone of my cards.
This is the 2nd set of 4 Easter cards I listed on the 3rd of this month. Sold....America!!!!

Well today, JP and I went back to the thrift store for some more tea cups and another elephant. I found out that one of the tea cups and saucers could be worth $30.....so we went back for some more tea cups and saucers. I found two more that were English made. I am going to sell them in my Etsy store, clean them up and take pictures and see how they do.....first I have to read up on them and see what some of the other sellers are saying about their tea cups. It's a big process, but worth a try.

I already have a collection of 14 tea cups and saucers in my china cabinet. Two cups and saucers were inherited from my step-grandmother, one set is well worth $120....wow I was surprised to see that. You never know what you may have in your china cabinets, just need the right buyer.

Selling things other then cards will help me to feel more like a "Vintage seller of wares" rather then just a "card maker"....lol! I also will be expanding on my store name also "Cards4ubylouise and "other treasures". My "other treasures" will be tea cups and saucers, and lots of misc things that I might find....maybe even a few of my treasures I have here at home. Never know....this could be fun. Have to pay for this computer some how!!!!

Well you all have a great evening and onward to MONDAY and another week of many things to do. My calendar looks pretty busy this week.........no dull moments here!!! So take care and keep looking up. Cheers ~ Louise

Card Making and Genealogy

Hi everyone. Goodness, this month is flying by fast. Last Thursday I went to make cards at a friends house and I am just now putting them up on my blog....oh well, "better late then never" as the old saying goes.
In this picture and the one below, is the neatest card I have ever seen or made. The box of flowers actually folds up and will fit in an A2 envelope. It was really fun to make and very easy too.
I folded the box up and it fell open this way. Mailing this card would probably cost a little bit more to mail. But what a pleasant surprise to receive a card like this.
This card is called "spotlight" where you stamp the flower twice, then color the part you want highlighted, layer on cardstock, lining up the flower with the other stamped flower. Nice effect.
This is a St. Patrick's Day Card. All the three leaf clovers are colored with copic makers and glitter glue and layered on cardstock and printed paper.
This was a very easy card. Each bird stamped on a square then colored in with markers, each corner punched with a round punch and placed on cardstock.....simple, simple simple.

So there you have it, four fun cards to make. I usually keep these cards for about a year or so, and if I have never duplicated them at some point in time or another, they end up going to Hospice Health Care for someone else to enjoy.

Been working diligently on my "Family Tree" entering names, birth and death dates and other info. It's been an interesting study. My husband said it was a waste of time...and all that info comes from Latter Day Saints. I don't think so, theres just too much info gathered to come from one place. I had to remind him that in Matthew chapter 1, we find Jesus' genealogy, I think there is at least 14 generations mentioned. That is quite a long line of family. So really, I don't see anything wrong with wanting to find out where I come from. If Jesus knew, so can I.

Well, time to close, you all have a great day and keep looking up. Cheers ~ Louise
