Hi there everyone....hope you are having a great day. It is so beautiful outside....I really should be outside rather then inside doing this blog......don't cha' think????? Well, in a little while Kylie and I will take our daily walk.
So today, would have been my father's birthday, he would be 96 years old....wow! But instead, at 43 he died of a heart attack in 1961(53 years ago). He had just finished reading the minutes of the previous meeting for the VFW and the meeting was coming to a close....my dad got up from where he sat, walked across the floor and passed out. My mother was called right away....my dad was rushed to the hospital, but was already dead. I was sent over to a neighbor's house. That was a terrible night, I remember sitting on the couch and got really cold. The lady gave me a blanket to warm up. Somehow, I already knew something was wrong, no one told me, but I already knew. Do you think God prepares a heart before something happens so we can cope better with that situation....I don't know....maybe. I remember another neighbor coming to get me and walking me across the street with his arm around me telling me that something had happened to my father......but I already knew something had happened to him. I walked in the house, took one look at my mother and said I was going to take my dogs for a walk.....It seems that's when I would talk to God....but this night, I was very angry with God....yeah, I know, it wasn't his fault, but who else could I blame???
In later years I finally realized why my father had died an early death....I depended more on my father then I did on my "heavenly father". A hard lesson to learn, I know and who knows what else I was thinking back then, but looking back on that time.....I can see where God gave me a lot of strength to go through that time....it was hard for a 14 year old to lose her father, the one man I loved so, so very much.
Who knows....I only hope my Dad was saved and I will meet him at the gates of heaven when I pass on or get raptured from this earth.....either way....I win the race!!!!
Nothing much going on today...I am going to make some scones tonight and stuffed peppers for JP's dinner....yum, bought a big pepper yesterday...looking forward to having a bite of that. By the way, I am looking forward to buying another piece of "prime rib". I finished up the last of it last night along with a cheese and greens omelet, that sure was delicious.
Well time to close you have a great rest of the day. If you would like to visit my other blog at wordpress, the address is: cards4ubylouise.wordpress.com
Have a good one, Cheers ~ Louise

500 Posts and Hibiscus Tea
Hi there everyone. How is your day going? I am loving this weather...mid 7o's is just perfect and not high humidity....perfect, perfect. I am not a hot weather person and especially as I get older, hot does not agree with me or my ankles. So I have been praying....God keep it cool....and He has. But there is still August and September....then comes October, November and December and we know how cold those months can be. But for now, this has been a very comfortable Summer in my books.
So today is my 500 post on BlogSpot. I guess there should be a celebration of sorts....it's been fun blogging, don't know if I have a lot of followers that are actually following every word I type....it would be nice....but that is okay if you are not. It has been good therapy for me and maybe hopefully helped someone along the line.
Through the course of blogging here, I have ended up with a 2nd blog at: cards4ubylouise.wordpress.com I was forced to go there because I could not up-load my pictures on blogspot. To say the least I became very frustrated, and started a 2nd blog. Wordpress is still a bit confusing to me, but it seems to attract more followers and reach more people for some reason. So, I will keep it going for the time being.
I have made some hibiscus tea. In all the years I have had this plant, never realized I could make tea with the flowers. Now I am hooked and can have fresh hibiscus tea during the winter too!!! I looked up on Youtube how to make the tea and it has lots of good properties like Vitamin C and also keeps the blood pressure down. Which I need.
So you take a tea pot with filtered water and boil. Take your hibiscus flowers and pull the petals off. and place in the water and let them steep.
In this picture you can see the petals starting to lose their color. I take the flower petals out when they go completely white and have lost all their color. The water will have turned pink as you can see in the two pictures below.
I also added a half package of stevia to sweeten the tea a bit. Such a pretty color and very tasty also. I think I am addicted to this luscious and refreshing tea.
Here's another picture of the tea. I have also been making Hyssop tea with the leaves, which has a bit of a licorice taste to it, and Bee Balm tea, which you can use the petals of the red flowers (and you can eat the bee balm petals also, good for bad breath). I suspect you can use the leaves of the bee balm also...have not done that as yet. I think I have enough teas to keep me busy drying for a couple of weeks. I do have some lemon mint leaves to dry also.
Well as you can see....been busy making my own teas. JP likes the Hyssop tea the best. It's mentioned in the Bible and was used for Passover in Exodus 12:22. So yeah, he likes that Hyssop is in the Bible. So it must be good for our bodies in some way.
Time to close and get going on some of these teas. I told the Pastor's wife I would bring some mint tea for her to try tomorrow. Maybe I should google "how to make lemon mint tea" and see what it says.
You have a great day and keep looking up. Cheers ~ Louise
PS I blogged about this wonderful tea on Saturday. Not exactly sure why it did not post....I guess I need to contact Blog Support...have nothing but frustrations with this blog. Sorry for my rant!!!

Hi-lites of July 4th weekend - part 1
Hi everyone how was your July 4th weekend?? Mine was quiet, busy and productive. There is just JP and I and Kylie our doggie...so that is where the "quiet" comes in. No family or friends here in Appleton. So, quiet it is and busy and productive. We got a lot accomplished this weekend. Gas grill turned into a charcoal grill and the front porch washed down and stained. Along with a few other projects.
If you would like to find out more of what we were up to, go to my wordpress blog at: cards4ubylouise.wordpress.com
Hope this new week is fun-filled and prosperous for you. Take care and keep looking up.
Cheers ~ Louise
NOTE: Still due to unresolved issues beyond my control with BlogSpot. I cannot download pictures. So I have taken my blogging to Wordpress where picture downloading is more assessable. Please continue visiting me here and at Wordpress. Please leave comments, I like hearing from your all.

Happy and Not Happy
Hi everyone....how is your day going? I suppose you are wondering why I am "happy and not happy" all in the same sentence??? Well, I am happy that I am blogging in Wordpress and can at least download my pictures with more ease. But I am "not happy" cause I had to make the switch. I was comfortable with this blog site, but....I will continue to blog here, you just won't see pictures downloaded anymore.
Pictures make a post I think, cause people like to see pictures and, I like to take pictures!!! So Wordpress it is, until I can finally download pictures onto BlogSpot.com. So, I shall have two blogs to play with...I am still on much of a learning curve in Wordpress...so much to learn and look at. But I will eventually learn the ropes. Wordpress has a few extra things that BlogSpot doesn't have and visa versa.
Well, today was kind of a quiet day...did some shopping and picked up meds for JP and I. Bought some more dirt and a few lights for my pond area. I am going to try my hand at propagating my Hibiscus plant. Watched a few Youtube videos, so I think I might be able to handle it. I will let you know how things go.
Well time to close here for now and OH here is the link to my other blog WITH pictures. cards4ubylouise.wordpress.com This link will take you directly to my newest blog post. So you all have a great day and keep looking up. Cheers ~ Louise

Moved to Wordpress Temporarily Until.......
Hi there everyone. Well as you can see by the title I have moved temporarily to Wordpress. cards4ubylouise.wordpress.com this link will take you to my new blog. I have not left BlogSpot.com completely, probably will use this one to direct you to the new one where I can actually download my pictures. Or until the problem is resolved.
I have not figured out the problem as yet, but I do not want Google Chrome downloaded into my computer...only because it carries along with it other stuff that I do not want on this computer. I learned my lesson a couple weeks ago when it cost me $200 to get this new computer cleaned and the viruses killed off!!! Apparently I got hacked....I am very leery now to say the least.
Can't believe how complicated things are getting...in order to do one thing, 2 other things have to be done before the first problem can be taken care of....honestly....what happened to simplicity????
Nothing special happened today...church, shopping. Lunch was ham sandwiches, beans and potatoes and fruit. And, pizza for tonight. Kylie and I took our nightly walk....she loves her walks, when she sees me putting on my shoes, she starts barking at me to move faster. Open the door and she makes a bee-line for the sidewalk....geez....slow down Kylie, I think she is taking ME for a walk!!!!
Not much planned for this next week....maybe I need to get my porch floor stained THIS WEEK for sure. The weather is supposed to be in the 70's so that is good painting weather. AND I have lots of weeds to take down in the front yard.....so I do have enough to keep me occupied.
See....isn't this a boring blog with no pictures???? Please see my picture blog at cards4ubylouise.wordpress.com have a great day and keep looking up. Cheers ~ Louise
