A Good Deal Today

Hi there everyone. The first 7 days of March have been busy and snowy....but, it's still winter. Spring starts March 20th....so we have 13 days to go...yep and when Daylight savings starts, the days will be longer and we are on our way to SPRING!!!!

Today I got a good deal!!! All these stamps for $6.00!!! Some of the stamps still had their original price on the side. I estimated there are $125.00 worth of stamps...give or take a few dollars. I estimated on the low end. House Mouse stamps alone are $8-10. The "deep sea" stamps (in the left)were $10.00 originally, I paid $1.00.

I like the kid stamps. Will be perfect for making cards for the nieces and nephews. 

Will be fun to see what kind of cards I come up with.

We got our income tax done and taken to the accountant....so now we wait to see if we are getting anything back. We usually do get a refund from both Wisconsin and the Federal. Last year I had to buy a stove. This year....we will have to invest in a dryer. I think the bearing is going out on this one. The dryer came with the house when we bought it almost 27 years ago. It's the last appliance to be replaced in the house.

I was hoping to be able to spend $50....guess that is out of the question. $50 is doable if we have to invest now.

I checked out the pre-owned appliance store....dryers were going for $250-$300, not including delivery. UGE....I wonder, might as well invest in a new dryer. Will have to check out VanVerde's for a new one. To have the old dryer fixed might cost around $200, if not more. Well, I have another place I want to check out, it's where we got our used washing machine. 

Hopefully we can limp along with this dryer until we get the money to get another dryer. It's all in the timing I guess. God knows our needs. Maybe I will invest in a little rack to air dry clothes for the time being. There is always something to occupy our time.

Blepharoplasty Surgery Before and After

Hi there everyone.....guess I have been "Missing in Action" again.....BUT I do have an excuse!!! Had surgery on my eyelids to lift them up a bit and get rid of those ugly yellow patches on my lids. The Doctor said they were cholesterol patches. NOOOOO...I did not like them at all. Can't understand why the cholesterol decided to take up residence above my eyes. Look how old and tired my eyes look.....uge! This picture was taken maybe a couple of days before the surgery.

This picture was taken a day or so after the surgery....doesn't look too bad here but the discoloration and black and blue spread down and around my eyes. This picture actually looks good. Doctor put 3 stitches in my eye lids and taped up the rest. The tape falls off after a couple of days. I used a lot of warm water compresses a couple of times a day....that felt so good. Doctor said, "no cold compresses." There was just a bit of pain as the numbness was wearing off, took a Tylenol and that made me sleep most of the afternoon. No pain after that.

So in the picture below....it was taken today. I had an appointment with the Doctor and he took the stitches out. He said most of the discoloration will be gone in a week or so. See my beautiful eyelids??? (That's what he said, my eyes were beautiful) Can you see the difference? One thing I have noticed is that my eyes did not water so much since the surgery. Doctor said that is because the sagging eyelids were not letting enough tears flow which caused eye dryness. I guess that is a miracle.....I would tear constantly, people probably thought I was crying all the time.

I told the Doctor I looked like a Mack Truck hit me.....he laughed and said, "and that Mack Truck's name was Dr. Neilitz!!!" Hahahah...he has quite the humor.

Since my cataract surgery last year, I now have 20-20 vision looking far away.....but up close I have to wear readers for now. Doctor asked me if I want glasses, but I said for now I will wear the readers cause I kinda like not having to wear glasses all the time. We will see....maybe at my next appointment in November I will have changed my tune. Cheaper to buy readers then new glasses.

Been doing a lot of nothing this past week or so. Making cards has just been on my schedule. Tomorrow is our Hospice meeting, so hopefully I can get a few more cards made tonight. Valentine cards are pretty much done, but need to make a few simple St. Patrick cards yet tonight. I will take some pictures and show you what I have been up to.

Well, it is going on 5:00 and it's still pretty light out. So I think Kylie and I will go take a walk.....she will like that. Finally the days are getting longer....Daylight savings begins March 12th. So yay.. we have something to look forward to. Oh and doesn't the Ground Hog come out on Feb. 1st or 2nd.....I don't know, it always seems we still have 6 more weeks of winter whether he sees his shadow or not.....superstition is all.

Daylight Savings, Elections and Some Cards

Hi there everyone.....how you doing on this mighty fine day......2nd day of daylight savings....what for, I do not know. I had a hilarious day yesterday. FORGOT to set the clocks back Saturday before going to bed. (too many clocks for one thing-at least 12 in the house alone). JP's fascination is clocks.

So, anyways, JP woke me up Sunday morning at 8am to see if I was going to church.....yeah I guess so. Finally got up, did the ritual of getting up, bathroom, hair, teeth, wash hands, then I decided to do my blood, (usually don't do it on Sundays, take a day off). Sat down at the computer and turned it on, started to do my blood and noticed the clock on the computer said 7:30am (what, am I dreaming????) Then I looked at the Atomic clock and it said 7:30......oh my, my watch said 8:30.....OH-OH I forgot to set the clocks!!!! I went outside to tell JP, "It's only 7:30 not 8:30, I forgot to set the clocks back!

Oh how funny, it sure is crazy getting older and forgetful. How do you like my funny pictures....I love ducks and could not resist the funny duck above. I used to have 4 ducks when we lived up in Ladysmith....I sure did love those birds, they were so much fun to take care of till they started getting killed off by some wild animal. We later found out it was one of my dogs.....gosh I was upset!!!!

JP brought home 4 little pumpkins for me to cook up and make pumpkin pies, have one cooked up and ready to make something with it.......when I saw this picture, I just had to copy and paste......funny picture. Wish making pies was this easy (I think)

So tomorrow is Election day......I sure do hope the right person gets in. The right person is on the right......get it????? I don't think I can stand another 4 years like these past 8 years have been....all our liberties will definitely be taken away.

In these next few pictures of cards are ones I have found on the Internet, and would like to make these cards. I have made this card already, but not using the trees in the background....shall have to try this one for sure.

I like this snowflake card and actually have the stamp.....such a simple card and very clean looking.

I thought this was a lovely card using the butterflies....looks like patterned paper and folding it over and adding a butterfly and some verse.

I just bought this die cut....and have cut out a few leaves....just have to find the embossing folder, patterned paper  and ribbon to make this card. Pretty, pretty for fall.

Think I will cut this post short, need to get a few cards up in my Etsy store....more Christmas cards to sell....hopefully they will....

November and Stampin'up Cards

Hi there everyone, how did your day go today? Went to church this morning, we left early today, we usually hang around to talk to people. So we got home and I made quick grilled cheese sandwiches....no, not like the ones I made the other day. Just plain grilled cheeses with ham and sliced, grilled potatoes...that sure did hit the spot. Stamp Camp was at 1:00.  

Today was daylight savings, of which I totally forgot about until 11pm last night....by the time all the clocks were changed it was 11:30, I think we have WAY too many clocks in this house. Anyways, while JP was eating his lunch, he mentioned, "didn't you say you had a meeting at 1:00 pm???" Yes, I said. Well, it's 1:00!!! Oh, those clocks didn't get changed, it's still 12:00.....whew!!!!!! Yeah, way too many clocks in this house.

So I got to Kathy's house on time, actually early and started into making this lovely fall card. A little bit of coloring to this one. I guess that's the newest thing now a days....coloring books for adults...guess I shall have to get a coloring book. Sometimes it is just plain fun to sit down and color a stamped image...very relaxing. Four other ladies showed up, so we were all busy at the different stations, making these cards.

This was a pretty card to make, I bought this set....the cut outs and the stamp set, bundled together and 15% off....maybe this will be one of my Christmas cards for this year. The background is sponged ink, can you see the stars and moon? Then the background was put in an embossing folder and ran through the Hot Shot to make the snow effect. The snowflakes were sanded down to look snowy. This sure made a nice card...I like.

This was a neat card....made to look like a dressing screen. I have this stamp set, so I guess I could make of few of these cards some time. Just would have to get the dimensions for the card stock and the punches.

Now this was a fun hunk of cheese to make. It is an actual die cut that was run through the Big Shot with 2 pieces of card stock. The parts of the cheese were scored and bent to shape the cheese. Dabbed the card stock to look like swiss cheese, I guess. Then embellished with the Green Bay Packer logo, ribbon, sequins and the red card stock. Turned out really fun. I think it shall be my decoration by the computer.

So the Packers are playing right now....so far, not so good, the score is 7-0 Broncos winning. Come on Packers....lets GO WIN this game!!!! OH, oh Broncos just scored again...NOT GOOD!!

As soon as I finish this post, I shall go downstairs and make some cards. FINALLY got my mojo back to making cards again. Sure took time to get it back. Guess the "hernia" took a lot out of me, not realizing it.

Happy Day Spring Cards

Hi everyone...hope you are enjoying this day....it's suppose to be in the 30's this weekend. My computer temp is saying 38 degrees with partly cloudy/sunny skies and a little snow....well that has all bases covered, so whatever happens, the computer/weatherman won't be in trouble. Hahahaha!!!

Today I am adding some cards I made for Spring to my blog. I put them in sets of 6 and am selling them for $9.00+ postage $2.50 (that would be $11.50 a set). Click on the set you like and to the right is the button for you to buy, follow the directions and you can either pay with a credit card or by Paypal.

I usually sell my cards for $3.00 a card, so this is a "real deal" at $1.50 a card. Each card will come with an envelope.

The verses inside the cards include, "Birthday Blessings", "Sweet Moments", "It's your day, enjoy", "Your Special", "Sending Happy Thoughts" and "Oh What Fun".

These cute cards can be for Birthday, Thinking of You, Thank You, Cheer up, or just about anything you would desire.

I have started to make Easter Cards and probably will start on Mother's Day/Father's Day Cards also. I wasen't much into making St Patrick this year for some reason...maybe next year. Either these seasons are coming faster or I am getting slower at making cards, not sure.

Hospice is coming up in April, so I need to get cards ready for that project also. Busy, busy, never a dull moment in the life of Louise.
