Hi there everyone. Hope you are having some nice cool fall days.....it sure does feel like fall out there. I am starting to pull up some plants that are dying out.....gosh, I may even put some things away for the winter....less to do for fall clean up, I guess.
I am not exactly sure where the spring and summer went to...but it sure went by fast. Must be the older we get the faster time goes by and as the Bible says, "we are all but a vapor" and vapors or puffs of smoke don't last long, do they?!?!?!
Today I am going to show you some of the meals I have made with my "Blue Apron" meals that I have so far received. Here is the link to Blue Apron if you would like to check it out. So below are 5 meals....not sure what happened to the sixth one....must not have taken a picture of it for whatever reason.
In the above picture is the "Chicken Milanse with Summer Corn, Cherry Tomato and cucumber salad. I liked the way the chicken was made and have already bought some panko breadcrumbs to make this again. The chicken was dunked in flour, then a mustard/water mixture then into panko crumbs and fried in olive oil. Very tasty.
In this picture is the "Cod and Miso Soba Noodles with multicolored Cherry Tomatoes and Eggplant." JP liked this meal as he is a "Cod-fan" Me not so much. I am also not caring for the eggplant either. This dish was just okay in my taste pallet.
In this above picture is "Summer Ratatouille and Parmesan Polenta with Heirloom Eggplant and Garlic-Cheese Toasts" a really yummy meal. Polenta, which was an interesting dish to make. I shall be looking for Polenta in the store now....hopefully I can find it. Again there was eggplant in this dish, not my favorite. Zucchini would be my choice. The garlic bread is always luscious!!!
NOW this was really a good meal...."Spiced Meatballs with Garlic Toasts and Summer Squash Salad" The recipe says, spiced meatballs served in a warming tomato sauce are a North African specialty. One of the defining features is a hint of lemon. The salad included green olives, mint, lemon, Parmesan cheese and the squash. The meat balls were really tasty. Yes, I would make this again.
OH YUM....I made this last night and JP wanted a second helping. I was hoping to have enough to freeze for a meal while I am convalescing after surgery......but nope, not this meal. This meal is a "Stir-Fried Ginger-Basil Chicken with Tinkerbell Peppers and Coconut Rice." The coconut rice was made with a coconut milk powder that was mixed with water then added to the rice to cook. Need to look for this product for sure. The stir fry had such a good sauce...we both enjoyed it immensely. Most definitely will have to make this dish again.
Tomorrow will be my final visit to the eye Doctor to check my eyes....I have 6 more days of drops....it's be a long hard haul....but I am almost done. I shall celebrate by buying a warm cuddly purple blanket I saw the other day at Shopko. Oh my, it was so soft, I could see myself cuddled up in it during those long cold nights....it's on my list to buy, SOON like this week!!!
Also tomorrow, I will be making a dish that will be coming in my Blue Apron box on September 3rd...the day of my surgery. I told JP to just put all the food in the fridge....hopefully in the following week I will be able to cook a little.
The recipe is called "Tomato & Goat Cheese Pie with Sweet Pepper and Basil." I have lots of tomatoes and basil from my garden, bought the goat cheese and pepper and will buy a pie crust tomorrow. So, I am all set. Hopefully I will be able to freeze some too. I did make some lasagna soup on Saturday....I should try and freeze a couple of containers there. That's if JP has left some in the pot.
I made him a rhubarb/strawberry pie on Saturday....I am surprised there is still some left. He is slacking a little.

Hi there everyone. Hope you had a wonderful day, it sure was a beautiful day. I got a few more plants for my back yard.....cucumber plant, zucchini plant, a tomato plant and geranium plant. And WALAH!!! I got them all planted tonight.
Yesterday, after church, I did some grilling. Hamburger, potatoes and grilled zucchinis. Oh gosh, they were so yummy, I made another helping and grilled them while we were eating.
So here is what I did:
2 zucchinis sliced in half, then cut in 1/4 inches.
2 tablespoon olive oil poured over zucchini
Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste
Seasoning of your choice. I used a rosemary and garlic seasoning.
Set on grill and cook, turn and cook till browned on all sides.
I could not stop eating these as they cooked on the grill, I guess that is why I had to make a second batch.
I think I will get a larger grill basket at Shopko. This basket is small....a larger one would be good for adding maybe carrots, peppers and onions, broccoli, mushrooms, yum! Roasted vegies on the grill!

Hi there everyone. Beautiful day today....isn't it? Well, at least it is beautiful here in sunny Appleton, Wisconsin!!! But that probably will change in a few days. Rain is in the forecast. But for today, I will take this...the temps today are in the 70's. To me, this has been a most beautiful summer, not too hot and not too cold..........just right.
Took some pictures yesterday while walking Kylie. My vine is growing beautifully. I forgot it's name...will have to look at some old blogs to find the name, it's a very simple name....sheeze, it's name escapes me right now.
The last couple of years this vine took up the whole side of the porch. I think the cold winter affected it a bit. I think it grew just perfectly this season. Pretty little white flowers, aren't they?? I have some purple Clementius growing along side this vine. They bloom in the spring, these white ones in September. To the left of the vine is my little tomato plant, producing little cherry tomatoes.
A closer look at the pretty little flowers......they do attract a lot of bees though...so I am very careful when around them.
In these next two pictures are some tomatoes. I got the seeds from a store on Etsy. They are an heirloom variety....I think they are called "black cheery" there is a lot of them growing, not sure if they will turn red, but right now they are half black and half green. (Oh my, can you see the reflection of me taking the picture in the tomato...how funny)
In this picture are some more tomatoes...I had a thought yesterday to grill them along with our prime rib, onions, peppers and some red tomatoes........oh my what a great meal. These grilled black and green tomatoes....yep, I would do it again!!!!
In this last picture are my cucumbers....I had a good crop this year....lots of salads, dill pickles, sweet pickles and gherkins. All from this plant and my old wheel barrel with cucumbers growing. Yes...a good year for cucumbers from my garden. Must have been the right weather conditions all summer long.

Hi there everyone....omg....this just makes my day when things are working on BlogSpot. Today I could up-load some pictures. So we will go with it....Happy dance, happy dance!!! Next test....will these pictures be extra large or regular size pictures......we'll see.
So in this picture are my purple clematis....they sure looked beautiful this year. Last year I took a lot of roots and transplanted this baby in 2 different places. Some roots went to another part of the back yard and by the side of the front porch. I did take some pictures of the different places. Shall have to take some more pictures of these pretty flowers.
In this picture is my swan, which always gets some red geraniums planted in her. Have some cucumbers planted in the pot behind, got my first cucumber yesterday....oh yay!!! Not sure what that green plant is....that one comes back every year and I can keep it out all winter (covered of course) it grows back. I will have to check to see if the name is still in the pot, if so, I will let you know.
And here....TA DA....are my wonderful "brown eyed susans?" They volunteer themselves every year and I never know where they will grow from year to year. These are growing along side the house and their blooms will last a couple of weeks. I do so love them!!! So bright and happy!!!
Here is my beautiful white rose....This year only half of the rose bush came back...guess it was a rough winter for them. During the winter there is always a 6 foot mound of snow that covers this rose bush....very well insulated but it was a cold, long, winter for her. Perhaps that is why only half survived.
Well time to close, need to get ready to go pick up some bread at the Salvation Army. Have to start thinking about making JP's lunch, I use lots of bread, so getting bread at the SA really helps us...today he is getting a refried bean sandwich with lettuce. Sounds good, right???

Hi there everyone. Wow, can't believe how fast this month has gone by. We look so forward to Spring and it flashes before our eyes in seconds. Time races by so fast!!
Took some pictures of my apple trees.....both are blooming, I am so excited for the apples, both trees will produce. The tree on the left will be the red apples. The tree on the right will be the green ones. Hopefully we will be busy harvesting apples in September.
So pretty, so many apples. I am not sure when I should spray..better go to a nursery and find out.
I noticed today the flowers are starting to fall off....looks like snow on the ground.
Here's a close up of the pretty little flowers. In the background is the fire pit. I still have a lot to do there...it will take a little time getting the things done that need to get done.
I bought two tomato plants, two cucumber plants. Planted those the other day, still have some white waverly petunias and red geraniums to plant in the front of the house. Oh and there are naturally all those weeds that need pulling...which never ends.
So tomorrow JP has an appointment with the urologist, he has been having a few problems. Hopefully the Doctor will find out what is wrong. Well, time to close here, have to get the dishes done, a load of clothes and figure out what I will make for JP when he comes home at 1am.
