Last Day of November

Hi there everyone. It's me, just peeking in for the last day of November.....where oh where did this month go???? According to my calendar....it was a busy one, something going on everyday. No, don't want to repeat it. Wish I was a duck and everything would just slip off my feathers and not penetrate. Just frolic in the sun, playing in the water with not a care in the world....yeah, it would be nice.
Went to Sam's Club today and picked up a few things. They have the best hot dogs....so I picked one up for JP and I for lunch. You get a tall drink all for $3.10....such a deal!! So I got some olive oil, chicken breast, Red Quinoa and Chia Seed Chips, cheese, kielbasa, frozen Mango's and baking potatoes, oh and fig newtons.

I love Sam's chicken breast...they are so big, definitely enough for two people. Now I am looking for a recipe to bake using them....think I have some marinade in the cabinet, shall marinade it and bake.

Tomorrow, is another shopping day. Picking up my new glucose monitor at Shopko, take Kylie to the groomer, then pick her up. Get some eggs...1 1/2 dozen for 68 cents and a $10.00 box of dented & broken bags of food (if it's there for the taking). Oh and some bread and JP's LaCrox water.

Friday is Hospice meeting and we are meeting at Denny's for breakfast, then pass the cards around to look at. We meet once a year at Denny's and Hospice pays for our breakfast. For all the work we have done to make cards for them.

After Denny's I need to go to the Christian Book store and pick up two vials of "Rose of Sharon" anointing oil for Pastor Ron. Walmart, Bed and Bath, Hobby Lobby (better get my coupon before I go) Whew....tired already.....thank goodness Saturday is around the corner.

Well, now that I have completely bored you.....I shall close here and go marinate my chicken breast.

Have a great night and talk tomorrow maybe.....have to finish up my cards for Hospice and put the inserts in....then I am done. Have a great night and keep looking up....better days are coming.
Cheers ~ Louise

A Gift and a Few Cards for Hospice

Hi there everyone. I sure have been slacking at blogging, haven't I....no need to answer that. Guess I have been busy making cards. Our Heartland Hospice meeting was this past Friday. So all last week I was busy making cards and getting my box of 50 cards ready to donate.

We had a pleasant surprise waiting for us, we each were given this lovely gift, a cup and delicious blueberry muffin, which is hard to see in this picture. (it is actually gone now, that's why I said it was delicious!!! What a nice surprise. Heartland also buys us a breakfast at Denny's in December....so yeah, those are the little perks of volunteering for Heartland Hospice.

Note: I am drinking tea out of this cup as I type this blog....this makes a nice tea cup, don't you think???
Following are a few cards I donated to them....these Sandhill Cranes were filed away for 5 years....I thought, what the heck, lets turn them into a card. The crane was stamped and embossed in gold....just not sure how I did the background though......hard to remember after 5 years. I sure am glad no one asked how I made it or if I have the stamp anymore. The stamp was borrowed from and old friend I am no longer in contact with. Anyways, it turned out pretty neat and colorful too. I really should try and look for a stamp something like this...sure is an elegant card. Guess that is why I am enjoying using my Flamingo stamps....maybe I should look for a more elegant Flamingo like this Sandhill crane.
These cards will be good for a man....a cute raccoon and woodpecker.....I love this die cut and it will be hard to give back to the owner. I think this week I will make about 20 of these die cuts in different colors, so I have a stock of them. Can never have enough. Then I shall have to return the die cut to Betty.
In the picture below are some really easy cards I made. Saw a card like this on the Internet and saved it to my files. All I did was use the alcohol inks and scribbled the colors on, then stamped the tree, which was from Stampin'up and added the salutation and some sequins for embellishment.....very easy, peasy!!!
This was a neat card to make, I saw a copy of this card on the Internet. The stamp is from Stampin'up, it's called "what I love" the stamp comes in 3 phases, first the black is stamped, then the lighter stamp, then the darker part of the stamp to make it three-toned.....I like the look of this card, simple , springy and refreshing.
I donated this lovely lady along with a few other ladies that were similar to this one for Mother's Day cards....I did add some daisy stars along side this card, which completed the look. I sure do like this lady and probably will keep one for myself....maybe frame her and hang her on the wall, as we are BFF's.
This was another easy card, although it did take some time. Each flower was stamped, then cleaned and stamped with another color till all 4 flowers were stamped. Then I drew a line down each side of the flowers, it is hard to see in this picture, but I embellished the cards with speckles on the lines, and sequins for a little sparkle. I dabbed the one card with red ink, but did not care for the look and left the others plain.

I have a few other cards up my sleeves for Father's Day....one will be a golfer, maybe in black and white or brown....kind of simple.

I bought some new Stampin'up die cuts and stamps...looking forward to receiving them. Also from another company, I bought some oval die cuts and stamps.....I think I better hold back from stamp shopping, it sure can get expensive at times. Oh well...."what price, glory"!!!! (now what does that mean??? It just popped in my mind?????? Maybe I should ask Cortana???)

Well, time to close, have to go to bed in a little while. I have a Doctor's appointment tomorrow, they are taking some of my blood....hope my blood sugars are normal and not to high. I always worry about that.....don't want anymore medication to take, things are fine as they stand.

Have a great day and keep looking up....better days are coming.
Cheers ~ Louise

Missing In Action and a Few Vintage Things

Hi there everyone. How was your weekend. Mine?? Not so hot. Weather wise it was great. But I was having computer problems again!!! That's why I was HOT!!! It seems I was hacked and got a couple of viruses into my machine. Oh geez....I get so upset when stuff like this happens. Had to take my machine in to get it fixed and cleaned. I've had this computer only 4 months. I was getting messages that my Adobe Flash player needed to be updated. Well, I did not know that flash player is embedded in the machine, so it did not NEED to be updated. Well, I did not know that. So I went ahead and updated and that is how the hackers got into my computer. I have learned a very hard lesson. Here I thought Norton was taking care of everything. Little did I know a "hacker" came along and attacked me and gave me problems. The technician said that is the first place a hacker goes is through the "media" attacking your video and audio....I guess the one place where your entertainment comes from......well, let me just say this, I was NOT entertained!!!! To say the least.

I found after 24 hours I was going through withdrawals and needed to see what was happening on facebook, and my blog. I needed to get something listed in my Etsy store and Pinterest needed my input!!! Oh and I needed to get a few scrabble games in and try to beat Mr. Computer. Thank God, the tech called yesterday,(Saturday) and I didn't have to wait till Monday, like I first thought. So, yesterday I went and picked up the "baby" to the tune of $157, then did some shopping and came home. Hooked up my computer and off I went. Whew, what a RELIEF, and I didn't even need a TUMS!!!!

So today I thought I would add a few elephants and tea cups and saucers to my blog today. This one I call the "Spotted White Elephant with a Pewter Head. Selling him for $8.00+postage.
This elephant is carved out of some kind of stone, not sure what kind. There is no branding on him.
Two pretty little tea cups and saucers....I forget the make on this one and how much it will be. When I finally list it on Etsy I will have all that info ready.
This white elephant can carry a candle on his back, or maybe candy.
I sold a pretty tea cup and saucer this past week, so I thought I better add a few more tea cups.....I really like them, but I have run out of space in my cabinet, so it is time to find new homes for these lovelies.

Well, time to close for today. It's going to be a busy week. I have started staining my porch, I shall take some pictures this week and share my hard work with you. Oh yes, there is weeds to pull, would you like to come over and help me??? I will make a cup of "toasted caramel" tea for you in one of my tea cups and saucers......doesn't that sound like fun??? I found a recipe for some "garlic/Cheddar cheese" scones....think I will try those this week too.

Oh yes, Hospice was cancelled, we waited for Rebecca to show and she didn't, she forgot, so now we have another meeting THIS Friday and she is treating us to breakfast at Denny's....YES...I will be there, thank you!!!

Well you all have a great day and a great week and keep looking up. Cheers ~ Louise

Made Some Cards 4 Hospice

Hi everyone. How you all doing tonight? Hope you're getting your Christmas planning, shopping, baking, card giving, decorating and wrapping done in a stress-free manner...if that is possible. Thought I would get a blog going whilst I am watching the Sound of Music with Carrie Underwood. I think it is going very well, considering it is a "live telecast" I sure don't see any mistakes. I was reading on the internet that the Von Trapp Family were not happy that Carrie Underwood was playing the part of Maria....when they heard there was a re-make of the story they had hoped Anne Hathaway would play the part because she is a professional actress and has received an Oscar....Carrie doesn't even know how to act and is just a country singer. I don't know.....I think Carrie is doing pretty good.

So tomorrow is the Hospice meeting at Denny's. Looking forward to breakfast there and seeing the cards the other ladies brought. The next 3 photos are a sampling of some of the cards I made. I think they turned out pretty good. I am sure those receiving them will enjoy them too, I hope.
In the above picture are some recycled cards. They are really fun to make and I think I will continue redoing cards....it's sort of a challenge to see what I come up with.
In this picture are some cards I created or found an idea on the internet and "cased". Of course I changed them a bit. I don't always have the same stamps, tape or colored cardstock. Oh I must add....the top card is a recycled card someone else made, I just added different colored cardstock.
Thank You cards are in this picture....all these cards getting "New Life" as a recycled card. In all, I put together 78 cards for Hospice this month. I think my first meeting was in March and altogether I donated 393 cards....wow!! Useing a lot of cards I made, or that people gave me and cards I have made in my monthy card class.

Thought you would like an up-date on my diet....so far since Monday....I've lost 3 lbs and 4 ozs. I am feeling much better and have noticed a little more energy. Today it was bananas and Skim milk and diet soup. Had some pop corn again...that might hinder my weight loss, but I need the "crunch". Eating at Denny's tomorrow could be a problem, but I am planning on doing eggs and fruit. Not sure about the toast part, because I have not had bread, butter, cheese, or pasta since Sunday. Just lots of fruit and vegies, this is kind of an expensive diet...but it seems to be working. Sunday is the last day of the diet, let you know the results and if I plan on continuing this plan of losing weight.

Well, it is getting late and I still need to get down stairs and ride my bike for 3-5 miles and make a pair of earrings. So you all have a great evening and keep looking up for your redemption draws nigh. Cheers ~ Louise

Saturday's....Don't blink your eyes....you will miss it!!

Hi everyone........how is your day going? Saw this cartoon on another site and had to borrow it. Christmas is already in the stores and halloween candy being discounted. My gosh...we go from one season to the next in minutes. Was there not a "breather" inbetween???
Had a nice meeting at the Hospice Care Group. Got my coffee and bagle with cream cheese. Very delicious!!! There were only 4 of us, missing a couple of people. Next meeting we will meet at Denny's for breakfast. That will be fun, my taste buds are singing already...mmmmm, eggs and bacon, some fruit and coffee?

Today I had a little bit of fun. WG&R Furniture store was offering a free coffee cup if you came in and took a look around...I just love the freebies....plus they had a huge Continental Breakfast offered. It looked like "a Senior Citizen" gathering with over 100 people. That was not including through out the store. Sweet Rolls, fruit, cookies, cheese cake squares, juice and coffee were on the menu. I guess here is where I would put a picture of that coffee mug...well, I have to take a picture of it, maybe tonight.

I have a stuffed pork roast and cabbage in the Crock Pot right now......smelling good!!! Well, I should close this blog for today. Have to take Kylie for a walk around the block. She missed her walks the last two days because of the rain. She has been nudging me for a walk to day...better go before it starts to get dark out.

"SPRING AHEAD AND FALL BEHIND" Don't forget to "FALL BEHIND" and turn your clocks back.....you get an extra hour of sleep tonight. If you forget...you will either be too early for church service or too late for the second one, or is that visa versa?

OH!!! I just reached a mile stone with this blog....drum roll please....this is my 400th blog since I started in 2008...WOW!!!

You all have a great weekend and keep looking up for your redemption draws night. Cheers ~ Louise
