Still Taking Some R&R

Hi there everyone. Yes....I am still fighting the flu....but getting better. Actually made some dinner tonight. Haven't really felt like eating, so JP has had to fend for himself. One good thing about this flu, lost some weight. Hooray for that!!! Now if I can just keep it off and keep going at this pace!!

I did go out to the store Saturday, JP drove me there. I had two sales this past week, one on Etsy and one through JP's work. That was a totally good surprise. The sale on Etsy was a surprise too, but having to pack the figurine and waiting to see if the transaction was deposited in my account took most of the week. Then take the item to the post office. I didn't want to wait too long on getting the item out, it was going down to Texas and was a gift for the buyers friend. 

My little excursion on Saturday, did take it's toll....sure was pooped by the time I got home. Bought something at the buffet so I did not have to cook. Kylie needed some food, JP needed his fruit, plus a few other things were needed. I think I slept a couple of hours after shopping.

Well, all went well and the package is off and will meet it's destination on Wednesday. Hopefully the buyer is happy with her purchase.

The above card is another look at the stamp I bought from Altenew. I am not quite sure how this card was done....maybe watercolors. I really like this peony and can't wait to play with it.

I probably will get a chance this week, as our Hospice meeting is this Friday and I need to get at least 50 cards put together before then. Nothing like waiting to the last minute. But then, I work better with deadlines....don't know why. Sometime my best work comes out of a deadline.

I am still going to take it easy this week though....R&R....is the word for this week. "Rest and Recuperation." Hopefully by Friday this flu thing will be over with. But now I think JP is coming down with it......hope we don't share it back and forth.

Fall Flowers and a Steak Dinner

Hi there everyone.....WOW can you believe it????? October 1st....where oh where did September go??? I always remember that song that Frank Sinatra sang...at this time of the year.

Well, now a trip to my yard of Fall Flowers. My yellow rose (of Texas). She doesn't get very big during the summer but she sure does produce some beautiful flowers.

I bought these two mum plants at Walmart @ $1 a piece....and just thought to plant them together....thinking I better go out and give them a little bit of water after I do this post.

This is my gorgeous star Clementius....I am not sure that is her real name but she sure does produce some luscious flowers.

My Black Eyed Susan's just keep producing all Summer and Fall long and surprise me growing in different places.

My $5 mum plant....I bought this one at Festival Foods. I need to plant it pretty soon.

Last but not least.....a Blue Apron meal, we had the other night. Seared Steaks and Roasted Potatoes with Balsamic-Glazed Mushrooms. This was really a delicious dinner and the meat was really tender, potatoes crispy and the mushrooms out of this world. Nothing is mentioned in the title about the fried kale.....that was pretty good too.

I haven't talked much about my Blue Apron meals, only because I have not been ordering them that much. I have been very picky and choosey with what I buy. JP does not like spicey, so my options are usually limited. Blue Apron likes to spice things up a bit. So I either cut it out or add just a little.....but if he can taste the spice, he does not eat it. The older he gets the harder it is to cook for him. So....sometimes it is just best to stick with the basics that have no spice.

Well, I best cut this post short.....have to go walk Kylie while it is still light out and then get dinner cooked. I do have a new recipe to share with you. Maybe in my next post. A Power Pressure Canning XL recipe....Pasta Puttanesca in 6 Minutes. It was soooooo good!!!

Tomorrow we find out the results of JP's test from his Prostrate Biopsy last Monday. The appointment is at 12:15 so please keep us in your prayers.

"Turkey Treat" verses "Altered Turkey Treat"

Hi everyone, how are you all doing today. My, it is getting a little chilly outside, 33 degrees at this point (it's almost 11pm). I suspect by morning it will be in the very low 30's or even 20's?. Burrr....I put my plants in the garage so they don't freeze and can live a little longer, wellllll, at least for another week or so.

I might be having another garage sale on Thursday or Friday (depending on the weather) then pack everything away till next year. So here's hope for nice weather for the rest of the week. Also, added to the agenda for this week is gardening. There's still lots of things to do before the first snowflakes fall. Tulips to plant, leaves to rake, cut down the peonies, lavender, iris's and Star Jasmine vine also the roses need to be cut down, fed and covered. It'll all get done....just in time for winter.

Years ago I picked up a post card, on it were some turkeys and an eagle....the caption said "It's hard to fly like an eagle when you work with a bunch of turkey's" Hahahaha, I guess I have never forgot that postcard and I am sure I still have it tucked away in some folder. Really don't know what that has to do with what I am going to write about. But one always needs a good laugh here and there....guess that was my laugh for the moment.

Now about "the turkeys". I received an email a few days ago from a lady in Texas. She is a demonstrator for Stampin'Up. It seems the turkey in the above picture was pinned on Pinterest. I thought that was neat when I read her email. But as the email continued, I found out the originator of the turkey treat, Kirsteen wanted me to know she designed the turkey and wanted credit for it some place in my blog. Because I did not realize she designed the turkey, it was kind of hard to give credit where credit was due. In her words, "I happened to log on to Pinterest this morning and saw a pin of a Turkey Treat made with the bow die, the link takes me to your website and pictures of your Turkey Treat which is obviously a slightly altered CASE from the Turkey Treat I made in August."

I responded, "I did not realize the idea came from you." I explained how I came about the idea through a card making class I go to once a month. And, I probably would not be making anymore turkeys and this would be my one and only, who will sit happily on my dinning room table. One turkey in the house is enough.

So there you have it.....I guess we all case each other's creations, maybe to the tee and maybe altered a little. Kind of like recipes, we might get a good recipe and change it in some way. Very seldom do I do something exactly...tonight I did though. Made a big pot of Harvest Soup and some meatballs....I honestly followed the recipes....now that is a miracle. I shall change the meatball recipe a little....tooooo salty. You just may see that recipe on my blog as it was a really healthy kind of meatball using Mann's Broccoli Cole Slaw and hamburger.

In Memory of Dave Wilkerson

This will be a very short blog. As of a few hours ago I heard that Dave Wilkerson was killed in a car accident in Tx. Now he is in the presence of Jesus. . .what a glorius place to be. Sad that his life ended so tragiclly. His wife and the truck driver are still in the hospital. Sad news for all concerned.

JP and I went to a "Call to Repentance" in Texas in 1986 and got to sit under the teachings if Dave Wilkerson....that might have been when the fires of revival was lit in my heart back in 1986, yep, I believe that was when God began to change my life around. That was one of those vacations I will never quite forget.
