Okay....Okay I Give In....Google Chrome It Is!!!!

Yep, I certainly have been woken up and it's not to the smell of coffee!!!! Wish it were that easy!!

Been having such a hard time with Blogger.com and it's new format, was at my wits end and ready to throw in the towel!!!! No doubt some of you have had a problem with blogger's format also. Well, I  finally downloaded 'Google Chrome' like Google said to do.................and WA-LA, no more problems and I actually have a big screen to type on and all my signs at the top to compose a blog are not covered up..............wow, what a difference. It's easy to type and my screen does not jump around and go blank. Miracle upon miracle!

Don't know why I fight change, just have a hard time working outside the box I guess. And too, as one gets older, we get stuck in our old ways and it is hard to go outside the boundaries of comfort.

Onward and upward we are climbing...."God makes things plain and simple but man has many inventions". That is a scripture from Ecclesiastes 7:29 (my paraphrase). Wouldn't life be easier if things were plain and simple??? But man likes to critique things, trying to make things better and all it does is make things worse!!! Look at this world and the direction it is going.....farther and farther away from God, where it all stops, no body knows......But only God!!!!

Well, so much for my blog for today.....went to Google Chrome to see how things work....yep, I will come back here again to do my blogs. Thank you Google Chrome......I fought and you won!!!! Have a great day and remember fear not and keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh!!!
Cheers to that!!! Louise

A Mother's Day Card

Well, here I am again......mastered my problem with the new camera and finally got some pictures downloaded. I guess it helps to read the instructions on how to work this camera. Was kind of expecting the camera to work the same way that my old one did........no so.

My new camera is a Canon "Power Shot" A1300 with 16 pixels. The old camera is a Canon "Power Shot" A510 with 3.2 pixels. I am sure this new camera will be fine once I learn how to work it. Keeping the old camera as a back-up "just-in-case". My new camera takes videos.........so somewhere down the line you just might see a video on my blog....probably of my dogs or something like that, or babies if ever one comes to visit.

The mother's day card is a sampling of what I have in my Etsy store. An origami butterfly sits on the corner of the card, securely attached with glue so it won't fly away. The card measures 5.50 X 4.25 (as do most of my cards) and will come with an envelope and clear plastic sleeve for protection. See my Etsy store for further information on this and the other 4 cards. Probably will be putting this card in my Etsy store tonight.

Well,  I'm going to close for today...........hopefully a few of my other problems will solve themselves as easily as the camera problem did. Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh.
Many Cheers to you all ~ Louise

A New Camera and Many Problems

I thought this was a cute picture, although I don't have a cat, but 2 dogs both of which keep me quite busy. I do like the saying..... "one day things will get better until then".......These last couple of days have been tough, there's been alot of struggles, twists and turns to deal with. The biggest one is that we found out we owe $1500 for JP's stress test, now if this does not cause stress, I don't know what will. We were told this test would be covered 100%....I think the insurance only covered 50%. JP has to go for a "heart cauterization" next weekend. Not sure if he will go for it yet. As of May 1st his medicare kicks in, so not sure how that will pan out. Work insurance will be cancelled May 1st also.

A few other problems rose up -
1) PC Registry wanted to charge $49 to my charge account and the bank called to see if this was a fraudulent charge, I said no, but I did not want it, so go ahead and block the charge.
  2) My liver levels were high so the Dr. took me off the cholesterol medication, seems my liver is mad and irritated, (well, so am I). Had to make another appointment to draw more blood.
3) I was told I could not sell my cards at someones house. Was just a "show and tell" which I have done many times before, one of the ladies liked a few of my cards and wanted to buy them. I really had no intentions of selling my cards, there was no ulterior motive on my part....needless to say I will NOT bring my cards for "show and tell" again!
4) Bought a new camera, which was badly needed and I can't seem to download the pictures from the camera to the computer. Which means no pictures for Etsy and this here blog. (sigh)
Can't say I am enjoying doing these blogs anymore.....just hate, hate, hate this new blogspot format....it is so jerky and the screen goes blank, just too many times. Trying to figure my way around is a real chore. Life has not gotten any easier, seems at every turn there is a new challenge. So truely, I am waiting for "that better day", in the mean time keep looking up for your redemption drawth nigh. Sorry for all my complaints....I was always told that growing old were the "Golden Years" seems retirement is more like the "Tarnished Years" instead!!!! Well, cheers anyways ~ Louise

Funny Monday!!!!

Funny, funny, funny Monday!!!
Saw this picture of the nosey doggy on the internet.....think it was Pinterest, copy and paste. Sometimes I just don't have anything interesting to say.

I cleaned all my pictures off my computer Saturday and onto a USB Drive with 16gb, guess it will hold about 5,200 pictures. Thought maybe my computer would run alittle faster, but seems to be going at the regular speed........SLOW!!!

Thinking of getting a new Cannon camera this week. $149 camera for $99. Need a new camera, my old cannon is a 3.2 pixel, took great pictures but it goes through batteries like no bodies business and for some reason the time and date setting is not working and always seems to pop up, has become a nusience to me and instead of the pictures going into their specific dates, all the pictures would go into 1980 even if I set the time and date, didn't matter. So, I guess the camera gave up trying to work. I have probably had this camera for over 10 years........gosh, whenever they were still using 3.2 pixels, for however long that is.

Not planning to do alot today, maybe just work around the house. Tuesday I have blood test @ 10am and JP has an appointment @ 10:45am.......wonder if we will be able to make both appointments in a timely fashion.....the appointments were made for us.....I will try and rush my appointment up a notch.....should work out okay.

Made a wonder pot of soup today (Sunday) Slow Cooker Taco Soup......gosh was that delicious!!!!
Here is the recipe:
1 lb Ground beef (I used ground turkey)
1 onion, chopped
 1-16 oz Chil beans w/liquid
2 cups water
 2-14.5 oz diced Tomatoes
1-15 oz kidney beans w/liquid
1-15 oz corn w/liquid
1-8oz tomato sauce
1-4oz green chili peppers (I did not use)
1 Taco Seasoning Packet
Directions: Brown meat with onions (I also used 1/2 chopped green peppers) Drain well if needed. Mix all ingredients together in a slow cooker and cook on low setting for 8 hours. You can also use a dutch oven or large pot and cook up right away. Serve with chips, sour cream and grated cheese on top!!
Absolutely delicious!!!

Well, you have a great day and keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh.

Making Cards Today

Making cards at Sandi's place today.........was lot's of fun getting together and seeing what each of us came up with this month. Sandi's card (which is not finished) is in the picture below, left corner. The white flower and brown leaves will sit on the bottom of the frame with a little tag saying 'Happy Birthday', sweet huh?!?
We have been getting together to make cards for the last couple of months. Each one of us (the four of us) bring the makings for a card and show the others how we made that card. When summer comes, we might take a spin around the lake in Sandi's pontoon PLUS make cards, that may take all day!!!!

This was the first card we made, Shirley showed us this unique way of  folding paper to make it look like a frame with the picture inside. Shirley and I have been trading cards for 4-5 years. I have always liked her style of card making, truly a card artist. No two have been alike and each one carefully made.

Well, I am shutting this blog down for tonight. I still find this new format complicated and wish, wish, wish I could go back to the way it used to be. Well, you all keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. I shall try to keep looking up also.
Cheers ~ Louise

Pretty Little Post Cards from the Antique Show

I found these sweet little postcards at one booth, her prices were more affordable. As some of the other vendors were selling their cards and postcards for anywheres from $3-$8......I thought that was a little pricey!!

Aren't they cute???? Some of the cards are written on and the addresses are really short, with the name, address, town and state.......and NO ZIP CODE!!! How did we live without zip codes!!!!

Postage was 1 cent for domestic and 2 cents for foreign. Have two cards postmarked from 1910 and 1921. Should have looked on the back of the other cards, maybe there were some older cards. Oh well, perhaps if we go back tomorrow I can take a peek again.

So now I suspect you are wondering why I bought these little cards????? Well, I shall copy them off on my printer (there is not copyright on them) and turn them into modern day cards for my Etsy store....sounds like fun, huh?!? I picked up some Valentine cards at an antique store and did the same with them at Valentines and they turned out really neat. As long as I don't have to spend a humongous amount of $$$ for the cards, this can be a do-able project.

As we were walking around,I found another booth that was selling "Vogue Dolls". Some were $59 and some were $79....all depends on if they are in good condition. I told the lady I had some dolls with their clothes. Her eyes widened, she said did you cut their hair..........no I said, my hairdresser techniques did not kick in till I was a teenager. Well, I got her card so I can call her if and when I pull my dolls up from the basement and check them out. I really should, could have a little fortune in the basement and not know it. I was saving my dolls for "my daughter" so she could play with them. But, my life took a wrong turn and that never happened.

Well, it is getting late and "Titanic" is on TV tonight. Talk to you all later and keep looking up for your redemption drawth nigh.
Cheers ~ Louise

Going to an Antique Show Today.....stay tuned!

Thought I would use something antiquey for my picture. Forgive me, I am still trying to figure out the new format for Blogspot.com. It has me completely dumbified!!! Not sure if I like all these changes at one time!!! If something works, why does it always have to change??????????? That is my question!!!!

Be Yourself Everyone Else is Taken - A Few New Cards

Today I shall post some new cards that I plan on putting in my Etsy store. Guess I am in a blue mood for what ever reason. The card up above was made a couple of months ago after I had bought the bird background and later picked up the bird stamp, the two just seemed to go together. The bird is colored in with copic markers and then cut out.

I have been seeing some cards on the internet which use the fiskers cloud punches and thought they were really cute. There was even a card where the artist used the cloud for a tree, turning it upside-down and was in green......naturally! So this is my rendition of a card I saw on the internet. This card will make it to my Etsy store also in the next few days.

Just added this cute little card to my Etsy store today.......it is very popular already. Sold one card (it had 5 duckies in a row) and also have an order for another card to be sent as a Birthday card. The duckies are stamped, colored in with copic markers then cut out and glued on cardstock. This little card is selling for $3.50 + postage in my Etsy store: www.cards4ubylouise.etsy.com

Well, I shall close this blog for today.....tis getting late and I have to do some more work on the computer.......been looking for my ancestors via genealogy sites, has been very interesting to say the least. Soooooo, Cheers ~ Louise

Good Friday and Happy Easter

Question: Why is today called "Good" Friday and Sunday "Happy" Easter????

This is not a trick question, just a "I wonder" type question......nothing "good" came about for Jesus. If you read the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John about how Jesus died for our sins. How he was stripped and whipped and beaten up, his beard plucked, nailed to a cross and left to die with people cursing his name.....not a very "good" Friday for him. It is said, that he didn't even look like himself because he was so battered up. Geez, talk about abuse and bullying. BUT GOD, had other plans and Jesus gladly went to the cross, and he rose again, just like he said he would and now today "He Lives"!!!! Now there, is the Happy Easter!!!!

I understand that part!! He arose and so we will also on that day when he calls us all home, whether it be by death or by the rapture ("if we are born again" John 3:7), we get out of this world, never having to die, then we meet Jesus face to face............what a day that will be, what a glorious day for sure!!!!

My memories of living in Ladysmith and living out in the country are still very vivid.......I loved Good Friday and those 3 hours just before 3:00pm. In that little town, everything closed up for three hours, people went home, got changed and went to the catholic church. Me, I went home and went into our 15 acres of wooded forest and communed with God.......read my bible and talked and walked........had some really good times with the Lord. I remember one "Good Friday", I decided to stay in town, was working at the beauty shop at the time and Karen and I sat in the shop and just talked about Jesus and what he had done for us.........suddenly Karen said she wanted to be baptised in the Holy Spirit and just at that very moment my pastor from the Assembly of God, John came knocking at the door..........we let him in and then all three of us were talking about Jesus and Karen mentioned she wanted to be baptised. John said well, we could do that right here..........we all started praying and BAM!!! Karen got baptised with the evidence of speaking in tongues!!!! (Read Acts and get ready!!) Now THAT was a GOOD Friday!!! God was always doing miracles in Ladysmith, I saw some great times in the Lord there..........my faith was built up firmly. I miss those days, but I still have those wonderful memories.

Appleton on the other hand, has been another story.......(the" Good Friday's" are few and far in between).....there's been a lot of struggles from the very get-go. When we got to Appleton, we had not even been here a week and were told "why did you come to Appleton, we never needed or wanted you". Gosh, that was not good for our morel......working at the Salvation Army had a lot of pros and cons, but we managed to stay, JP for 12 years and I for 14 years. We each left the SA for greener pastures (we thought). I started working at the AG church.....as a secretary for two different worship leaders. I really loved my job to both of them (maybe that was the problem, I loved my job, too much). But, I don't think I ever quite fit in with the "click" to say the least, I was always on the outside looking in and never feeling 'apart'. Nope, no "Good Fridays" were there, even though I was in a religious setting! I remember a lot of heart ache and tears......but no "Good Fridays".

Not really sure why I have rambled on like this.........maybe just because it is "Good Friday" and God is reminding me of what Jesus did for me over 2000 years ago. Yes, it's a "Good Friday" after all.....65 "Good Friday's" and every single one of them have been so, so, very different..........which one of them would I choose???????? Don't know, maybe the ones where I felt the presence of God in my life in a special way, knowing he was by my side, leading me and guiding me on to bigger and better "Good Friday's"

Here's to "Good Friday and Happy Easter".......enjoy and let the Love of God surround you this weekend and keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh.........meaning Jesus is coming very soon!!!!

Cheers ~ Louise

Origami Butterfly Moth-er Day Cards

Well, here is what I have been working on for the last week or so.....my newest collection of Origami Butterfly Moth-er Day Cards. Wishin' I still had a mother to send a card to, she would have liked it very much.

I shall be putting the cards in my Etsy store, one by one, but not as a set. The cards will be $3.45 a piece. If you should desire two cards at a time, the price for two cards will be $6.50 (that is $.30 off + postage).

If you would like a different color card, just convo me via Etsy or email me and let me know what color you would like the card to be (if I have that color) and the butterfly will coordinate with that color card. Once the card or cards are finished I will let you know and you can pick them up in my Etsy store. I will mark your order with "RESERVED FOR" and your name. As soon as Paypal sends the okay, the cards should be in the mail by the next day.

Well, I am going to cut this blog short for now, have to get ready to go vote!!!!! Talk to you later, have a great day and keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh........meaning Jesus is coming soon!!!!
Cheers ~ Louise
